Chr15j
What is the point in high download speed broadband... Ok so you could download at 30mb. You will be hard pushed to find ANYONE who can upload at anywhere near 3mb let alone 30mb. Don't forget your download is someone else uploading to you. Itsall a con, more important is contention ratio (how many you share your connection with)
V8 90
We only get 0.2m here in North Linc's !!

station
We had BT Infinity downloading at 37Mbps and uploading at 8Mbps which was very consistent. They are offering a free upgrade (so long as you sign up for another 18 months) to Infinity 2 at the moment - which we just took advantage of. We now have a stable 68Mbps download and 18Mbps upload. All it means is that if we are streming an HD film via iPlayer on main TV and surfing the web via main PC, plus laptop, plus iPad plus iPhones then you are not buffering the content every 30 secs. We have main TV and main PC hard wired to router and then everything else is left to wifi - seems to work well for us. The secret it to find a provider which guarantees a stable speed - it's better to have a consistent 8Mbps rather than an occasional 50Mbps one moment and only 2Mbps the next. GingerCat
Got virgin 20nb, its a constant 19.6 down and 1.75 up, anytime of day or night, that's in a city so the contention ratio must be high, ping is usually 15ms and line noise is good too, quite pleased and have been for years, they upgraded me for free to 10mb. Itsall a con, more important is contention ratio (how many you share your connection with) Well, if a few people together decide to upload, it does allow you to make full use of your available bandwidth. Newsgrouls, torrent and other protocols allow that...
