Parcels up to 2 kilos are free to send from the post office and can contain things like .. Wetwipes, satchets of soup/coffee/cappachino, satchets of sauces (tomato, brown, tartare, salad cream, vinegar etc) packets of jelly type sweets. Magazines, lads mags are ok but strictly no porn magazines. Newspapers are also ok. The address is as follows .. **** Please PM for contact details ***** Thanks. Muggins. Puggers Posted October 30, 2012 Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 Agreed, I send at least two parcels to my lad out there weekly but there are other lads out there that don't have families so don't enjoy the benefit of receiving pick-me-ups through the post. Other favorite things to receive are Supanoodles, pot noodles, squash or kiora sachets, muesli bars, dried fruit/nuts and biscuits - all of these last the journey and importantly the current hot weather there. Other organisations would willingly take parcels from you and send them on; just contact the likes of - Help4Heroes Parcels4Troops supportoursoldiers.co.uk or contact your local barracks Welfare Officer. I am coming to the end of a 28 year career in the forces and would not be happy for this amount of detail to be published (does he even know?). If you send parcels without a named person on the address, they wont be sent as they could be suspect parcels (all the Afghan mail ends up at Mill Hill and the military then send it to Afghanistan so won't send them without a name). However, sending to one person like this is not recommended either as there is no mention of when he returns to the UK, ie the end of his tour. When he returns, the BFPO will have to redirect these comfort parcels back to where he is based as it is assumed they are personally for him. To be honest, if you wish to send them out to guys that don’t get mail (and there are loads), then do as Puggers said, you should contact help4heros, parcelsfortroops etc. They have an understanding with Mill Hill who will fill up a plane with these comfort boxes when all the named mail has been sorted. Can you imagine how popular this Sergeant would be if all the mail one day was only for him with no one else getting any because the plane was full? And before I get slagged off for daring to question what is a genuine offer to help, think of the bigger picture here, his safety is more important than a pack of wet wipes and we are reminded when we go out to these desert tours not to put anything on facebook etc that details who we are or where we are based that can be used against us. The package was dropped off at a pick up point. I intend doing the same this year, only on a larger scale. I feel by doing this, I'm showing my appreciation to our brave serving troops abroad. Steve. It was what i was given mate, any number of people in the PO could see the number. Just noticed that the details have been removed which is fair enough. If they spend most of their time at REMFing around the EFI at Bastion, the chances are they have access to anything they need anyway, so mainly comfort items. However if they’re deployed on their belt-buckle in one of the FOBs, practical stuff is always useful too. Things I'd want to received, like: T shirts & underwear. Clothes pegs & para cord (clothes line etc). Drawing pins, bull dog clips, gaffer tape. Salt, pepper & tabasco sauce or similar. Dry foods like pot noodles, fruit, nuts & biscuits. Decent Tea bags or coffee. Polos, gum & Haribo star mix or similar Playing cards. DVDs (what’s on the disk doesn’t have to match what’s on the box – so get some filth) USB flash drive (pre-loaded with filth). Magazines (take the shiney cover and first few pages from something mundane and add contents of a filth mag of the same size). Shampoo bottle (preferably filled with brandy). Bar of soap, razors.
