FalconFN
Then you've not done it right! breaking an animals neck per se won't kill it, you need to disrupt the brain stem. In my opinion a priest is still better as the bird will be rendered brain dead instantly whereas broken brain stem will kill but take a few to several seconds, in the meantime the bird is conscious. All to their own, but I can assure you if you dislocate an animals neck correctly, its probably the most humane method available, trust me. bi9johnny
Firstly as for the 3 people that commented on the username, if you managed to catch a few films in the 80's (by the sounds of it your probably not old enough) and if you include the picture beside my username which also says born2kill and add a little education (if you have any) you will know its a play on words from a film called full metal jacket, it has nothing to do with shooting, shotguns or hunting. Back to the more serious comments and advice, ill be certain to take a look into the devices mentioned and i have dis-regarded the idea of the pistol at this point, thanks for the help! thanks for the compliment of being so young... i wish ...educated i am on a daily basis and have been since i was a nipper....and as for the 80's lets just say i was out doing a bit instead of sitting in front of a screen watching make believe now then fella lighten up and take the good humour with the leg pulling it was intended , after 34 posts and getting a lip on over your name is not good.... by the way mine is because i'm a big fat miserable illegitimate person enjoy the site mate regards john

Strange , I wonder if you would have used the Born 2 Kill user name on the knitting forum , that would be a great one for you as absolutely no need to "get your hands dirty" With regard to education I was bright enough to have a user name that does not give the impression as a mentally deranged person who owns guns. buy a priest as already stated , you will not have dirty hands then if using it on bleeding pigeons you will have dirty everything as you will most likely be covered in blood from head to toe. rainman_l
Hold the head and use a circular motion to twist the neck until it snaps. You can do it with one hand whilst the other holds dead birds. Very easy to do and works every time. Google it. Forfinger under beak, thumb on top of head, middle finger behind head. After two or three rotations sharply lift you hand from the wrist. It will take you a couple of goes to get it but its easy to master.
ollie
You don't want to get your hands dirty? Are you for real? How do you manage to actually prepare the birds when you get home? If you use gloves then take a pair of gloves with you. I shoot quite a few pigeons every year and I just ring their neck (any that need dispatched). It is very very rarely that you will get any blood using this method. I think an air pistol it a bit OTT, can you imagine Joe Public ringing the cops to tell them that some mad man is walking around a field with a pistol (they won't know it's an air gun).
