the toyota hilux 4X4, is probably the best all around.....reliability, capability, re-sale value, fuel economy, off road capability, durability, use in town, highways, and offroad and it comes in various configerations (2 door...4 door etc). i have a shell on mine which is good for my work and hauling my gun dog.

Had a Surf and loved it, would have one again Tomorrow! Mpg not great but would go anywhere and put a smile on your face at the lights when you booted it!

Now got a 06 Ranger and can't fault it, not so good off road but all the **** from the dogs is kept in the back, mpg is between 30 - 35mpg. Picked it up at the right money so very pleased with it, would have preferred the Toyota but they were fetching good money for examples that had been worked hard so the Ranger was a good option!
