Vince Green
Basically, you have to tell us what your problem is and why you need it. Your club will issue one and if you are not an individual or affiliated member of the NRA you can't shoot on NRA ranges anyway
Albert 888
Sorry should have said, I have enquired about joining a riffle club who are asking have I got a NRA comp certificate. Which I havent. Looked on the net and it seams a good thing for me to look into as I would like to have a go at target shooting.
kent
the club will run a course periodically, its just BS in the main part from when the military was going to ban civilians from its ranges. you will generally be allocated a supervisor when its your detail

MiLisCer
Albert. Where in N Wales are you? I am our clubs training officer - all new members who cannot prove competence or are going to go through the probationary membership route are required to do the probationary course at our club. On completion of the course they club chairman will sign off their NRA SCC (Competency card) and they will become full members. Our course is not run on a pass/fail - it is on the LANTRA ideal of "Not yet competent" It is not as daunting as it might sound and you learn a lot about how MOD ranges work, safe weapon handling, stoppage drills, misfire procedure, range commands etc. You even get to do some shooting!! - until you have your SCC you should be supervised on a 1:1 basis at all times. Dekers
Ok guys thanks for the info I am all sorted now and understand what it is I was asking about. I Will be in good hands and start from the beginning and go through all the safety and the does and donts on ranges. Thanks again Albert This only applies to MoD/Military ranges and is actually called a Shooter Certification Card. Enjoy! The latest NRA A4 size training manual has 102 pages, take heart, the last couple are note taking pages . Any club can run it's own training program but this must be approved in advance by the NRA, so most just follow the NRA Course. It is a lot of Malarkey generally with a strong historical military bias and terms. Just the same most people will learn something from it. It is simply more **** covering, stemming from the world we live in and people desperately concerned about being sued!
