Mr Rizzini
Anyone else having to put up with the minecraft craze that the kids are going through? I'm sick of hearing about the secret portals and the graphics has took me back to my zx spectrum days, perhaps santa should trade the ps3 and xbox 360 for a spectrum and then every game will be like minecraft
Tod
my kids are on it all the time on their ipads, i dont get it as the graphics are rubbish

Mr Rizzini
I honestly has puzzled me to how in my day we wanted better graphics but not the graphics has went back by 20 or so years
humperdingle
It's a weird little game... I downloaded the app on my iPhone just to see what the fuss was about, and seemed to lose 2 hours just building bridges and stuff.... Deleted that sharpish! gazzthompson
The graphics are obviously bad, But they are not priority. Modern games have priority and top priority is mostly graphics but minecraft is all about gameplay. Its basically an open world sandbox. You can do whatever you want, Whatever you can think off. Imagination powers the gameplay (Which is why I think its popular with kids) its much like lego. Of all the games in the world today, If your kids are playing minecraft then let them! its extremely creative and imaginative you really can do almost anything. Some guy even built a 16bit ALU computer in the game which did basic math! Edited November 26, 2012 by gazzthompson

You can build and destroy pretty much whatever you want, and you can mine underground. These are just from a quick google search: Edited November 27, 2012 by Reece
gazzthompson
Imagination really is the limit, I remember seeing when it first got big people where using it in schools to teach kids IT and teamwork/building etc. As someone else noted as well there is a multiplayer aspect as well. jimmyvonk
I must admit to playing it sometimes myself - It's just digital LEGO, great fun to just build stuff to while away a wet afternoon and no risk of stepping on a brick in bare feet! Seamus
My kids play this constantly, it almost became a full time job for me installing mods and map upgrades like Hogwarts and Springfield from the Simpsons! In the end I set up a server in the office that they use with all their school friends (it also allows me to keep an eye on the scrolling text language!). I agree with the comments though in terms of the creative nature of the game, more than happy to let them play this.
