Grazy
Hi, i am new to the sport and have until now just done clay shooting but i am off pigeon shooting on Thursday and have an evenings wildfowling booked up. I expect to do more of this and may have one or two walked up shoots next year and hope to join a DIY pheasant shoot. What jacket would people recommend. I was thinking of a Barbour wax jacket - would this be suitable?
B725
not very flexible when its cold, better with the gortex or similar
pg123
How much do you want to spend?? A camo jacket off E bay or from your nearest army surplus shop for about £10 - £20 would get you started for now.
Grazy
I guess my limited would be around £200. I just want something that will last a long time and look smart on the odd shoot.
B725
Sherwood, good warm and waterproof coat for around £100 not sure I would use it for wildfowling unless it was inland
pg123
Entirely my own personal choice but I really think the Sherwood Forest jackets are a good buy. They always get good reviews and at around £80 - £100 dont break the bank. It sounds like you are going to try a few different types of shooting and I would personally make do with a cheap camo jacket to start with. The camo will work well while pigeon shooting and wildfowling. Once you find a pheasant shoot then move onto something smarter.

rimfire4969
Not overly helpful but I do think with jackets you get what you pay for. I have a pro hunter but they are expensive but very very good. As said musto do some great jackets. I would have a look on eBay and see what you can find in your size. Grazy
Thanks all. I think the idea of a cheap camo for the pigeons and wildfowling sounds good and then I get a posh tweed type jacket for the walked up/driven shoots. pg123
http://www.britishmi...9/shopscr3.html another good one.... You may find a heavy tweed jacket will be too warm on a walked up day. They are designed to keep you nice and warm while standing around on your peg waiting for the birds to arrive. Dempy
For around that kind of budget Ridgleline do some very good products, for a tiny bit more you can get a matching trousers and jacket! If you have a look here and are interested I can find you a local stockist, http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_list.asp?categories=
