super sharp shooter
Well tomorrow is almost here and I'm going on my first driven day. I am looking forward to the experience and just to see how it all works. The day cost me £250 for 100 birds + the purchase of some non camo shooting gear so it looks like I will be going again if I like it. Who am I kidding of course I will like it. al4x
Indeed you will love it assuming you are on a good team. Just think safety and pick your birds well
Canis
I'm still yet to try driven shooting. SSS - will you write up your driven "cherry popping" experience ?
bakerboy
Scott, have a really good day. You will enjoy it and we will enjoy hearing about it. As Al4x has said, choose your birds well and remember do not swing through the line. Terry Edited November 30, 2012 by bakerboy
super sharp shooter
Indeed I will do a write up on tomorrows events. All the gear is ready in the kitchen and I'm looking at it thinking about tomorrow. It's like going on a first date. super sharp shooter
The shoot is in Bedfordshire not far from Toddington. Arrive at 8am for breakfast and then draw for the pegs. As its a local shoot to where I live we will be doing a evening duck flight on our syndicate lake shoot so should be a mixed bag.

Mangled99
As Al4x has said, choose your birds well and remember do not swing through the line. As has been said I hoped you enjoyed your day, picked your birds well, didn't swing through the line, shot low or towards the beaters. super sharp shooter
What a great days shooting. I absolutely loved my first driven day. The total bag for the day was 93 birds for seven guns consisting of 80 phesaunt and 13 ducks. My bag was 4 ducks and 12 phesaunt which I was we'll pleased with. The shoot was very well organised starting from a full English breakfast on arrival and a glass of port followed by a short briefing about what birds we could shoot (anything that was in the air) no ground game apart from mr fox. Then we got into the shooting trailer and took a short drive to the first drive and then the fun started with my first 2 shots and 2 downed phesaunts I'm now thinking I like this. As the drives continued the more the birds seemed to fall out of the air as I pulled the trigger. On the third drive I was on peg seven which was a little Walk from the other guns but as I walked over the brook I saw lots of duck on the pond so I asked if ducks were ok to shoot and the keeper said of course so steel shot was put into my chamber and minutes after that the ducks were in the air and as fast as I could pull the trigger and reload 4 were on the floor followed by 4 more pheasant. The next 2 drives were more testing with 2 more birds on each then we broke for lunch in the shooting lodge. After lunch the count was in 73 birds so we decided to have 2 more drives to make the numbers up to the 93 bag that we finished with. After the shoot had finished we all went to the local pub to talk about the days events. I'm now signed up to the shoot next year as a half gun so you could say I am hooked!! super sharp shooter
Forgot to add the total shot count was 293 shots for the 93 birds so 3:1 not bad so the keeper said.
