gixer1
I just sold a fergie that I rebuilt and got running, was going to be a long term thing but ended up sitting in a shed doing nothing so decided to sell it, they are fantastic things to play in and always amaze me with how effortless they make some jobs. Super toy!
ferguson_tom
This is my one on steam lorry recovery duties when my friends broke down on a road run last year. Looks like you got a useful tool there make life a lot easier, as much as i love mine i would much rather be in yours on a cold wet day in marsh land . Best of luck with it and have fun. Super toy! Gixer Grey Fergies go for about £1750 upwards here with the Diesel making more than the Petrol, well i say pertol is it not some fancy mix of heating oil and old spice? Kes
Grand hobby. I have a fergie 35 grey gold and a john deere 955. The latter i bought for a song (comparitively) since it has a front loader, transport box, posthole borer, big shredder and a 3 gang ransomes cylinder mower - all but the mower nearly brand new - the tractor had 42 hours on the clock. I have to say each does its own thing and make jobs a pleasure, I just need a saw bench now that works efficiently ! Buy your tractor now - they are being exported and getting rarer. My fergie cost £1500 12 years ago fully reconditioned I doubt you;d get one for £3K now
woodcock1
I have a similar one, an 885xl 4wd with quicke loader. Bought it of ebay in the south of england. Im in Northern Ireland. I never even saw it only in the photos. Took a chance, bid way out of my comfort zone, and got a local haulage firm to collect it for me. All ended well and im very pleased with it. Have it just over a year now. Cost me almost £8000.

four-wheel-drive
i just purchased 12 Acres of marsh Perhaps I am a bit thick but if you drive it on to a marsh will it not just sink up to its axles in mud. Years ago there was an old chap lived in my part of the town and he has an old furgy and he uses it as his daily transport around the town to get the shopping etc it always put a smile on my face to see hime go buy. four-wheel-drive
Out of interest I had a look on the net to see what they are going for and like you I was shocked I was expecting them to be almost giving old one away but like old land rovers they just do them up and carry on using them £9.000 for a refurbished one. archiebald
That Case 685 pic brings back some memories I learned to drive tractors in one of those. It was a great tractor and never let us down the only one on the farm i used to work on that never had a penny spent on it apart from fuel. gixer1
Yup, mine was a p3 converted TE20 - they go for around 2.5 - 3k refurbished. Crazy when you consider what they cost new in 1947!! They are amazing machines though and it's a testament to their build quality that so many are still in working use today! ferguson_tom
If you see one for reasonable money you may find a tipping trailer is a very useful bit of kit. We use ours for logging and its great to just pull the lever and empty the trailer onto the deck without manhandling it all. Also if your taking any one with you to help you may find a tractor and box doesnt have enough space for 2 blokes and there lunch
