HI All thinking of buying a new gun have narrowed it down to either a beretta outlander or a explor light without kickoff have been reading a lot of good things about the outlander so I wonder if the explor is worth the extra money what do you think.

cheers

I have an A300 Outlander and, although it's a game/field model I only use it for clay shooting using 28gm cartridges.

I get no problems with recoil even after shooting a 100 bird competition.

I have put about 6000 through it in 10 months without a hitch of any sort.

Vic.

I also have the Outlander, only use it on clays as i've no land to shoot at the moment. It's a very nice gun, got mine for £795 new, so excellent value and as others have said cycles flawlessly and doesn't appear to be cartridge fussy, although the lightest i've used is 28g.

The walnut is on the bland side but i've been rubbing oil in it for a few months now and it's bringing out the grain quite well.

The only negative point is they only give you one choke (1/2) in the box, which i think is a bit tight but you can pick the mobil chokes quite cheaply.

One more plus point; the gas piston arrangement in the outlander is the same as used in the a400, i find the self cleaning piston does a good job and as a result i find the gun is very easy to keep clean, it is a well designed simple bit of engineering in my eyes!

used a benelli m2 for about 5 years and liked it. i recently traded the benelli for a beretta a 400 unico xplor and so far i really like it alot. i have probably put approx 2500 shells through it ranging from stout pigeon and crown loads down to typical med velosity clay loads with total reliability. mine has the kick off and i have grown to like it especially with the heavier loads. for a gas gun it is very easy to maintain. i can clean it almost as fast as the benelli. it fits me well and i shoot it better than the benelli i owned.

Which ever you choose I am sure it will serve your purpose. To add a bit to Outlander comments; had mine for over a year now without any issues.

Feels lighter than it really is, fast handling gun. Does become a bit of handful with wildfowl loads, not so much a recoil issue, more stability.
