njc110381
Think positive - If they weren't in storage I'd probably spend that on ammo
SakoQuad
I'd be pretty hacked off paying out £100 per month while they grind away at doing a job that should take just a few days, weeks at the most. Brace yourself for a wait lasting anything up to 6 months though rumour has it that having got at least part way through the big surge of renewals due in 2012, the delay might be reducing slightly. The moral here for all Glos shooters is to get your application in 3 months before renewal due, regardless of whether they contact you or not, send emails to FEO AND the central office (addressed to the Office Manager) and after 3 months delay write to the Chief Constable (copied to the new Police Commissioner?) to formally complain about the undue delay in the process and mention that you will be seeking advice from BASC about claiming repayment of the storage charges incurred as a result of the inefficiency in their system. Other Forces are doing something about improving and changing their tardy systems it's time Glos did the same.
Thunderbird
Yeah I've done that too! Same result. I'm paying £100 per month for 8 guns, not too bad I didn't think. Which RFD is that mate, out of interest?
tignme
Have three guns in storage at moment costing £2.24 each per week.

While I'd advise speaking to a solicitor who deals with such things, I can't see any reason why you couldn't claim back the storage costs, provided you sent in the application in good time (i.e when they say to). As well as getting your money back, I'm sure that if a few people did this it would give them an incentive to get themselves into gear. Loki
Hi In a similar position with TVP but insisted on a S7 (Temporary Permit) before the FAC ran out. Although reluctant it was eventually provided (suspect it shows up in the bean counting - sorry statistics) - I have no intention of putting into storage and then trying to claim back the costs. BASC have been helpful in confirming my understanding of the Guidance 2002 and reiterating it to TVP - their move now......... I sent my application in 2weeks before their reminder (beginning of July), more than the 60 working days they say on the webpage, with expiry first week of November, but they still cant provide the 'service/standard' indicated to paying customers... However I will be investigating compensation for not being able to use them in the interim (due to S7 - possess only) where I am a member of a Syndicate - so far 2mths wasted. Also has implications where wildlife is being managed to provide a 'management service' and being constrained from 'duties'.... On a minor aside - is this 'possess only' a 'nothing else at all' as no conditions for usage of firearms? L
njc110381
I thought dragging this back up would be a good mark of the time it's taken to renew my FAC. I did the interview and land check today and am now the proud owner of a new certificate. As was expected it's not quite how I want it but I was told to send it in with the name of the FEO who did the visit on the envelope so it can come back swiftly. On top of all the other stuff I've got a slot for another .22lr+mod and a .308. I'm now torn between a short .308 scout rifle or a big long heavy target gun to learn how to long range plink. I've been considering an old PH Sniper rifle.

It`s a total disgrace that they can`t even run their own system/procedure in a timely manner. I rfd `d my guns when they failed to renew in time. When the tickets arrived the FC was blank, but had authority to aquire exactly the guns that I already owned !!!!!!!! Figure that one out ! Muppets is a word that sprang to mind !
