Description

A beautiful antique Beretta S57 EL skeet gun from 1950s, very rare. Stunning grade wood on the stock and a sideplate. Brand new titanium firing pins. A very special gun for the price. Would exchange for suitable multi choke O/U or semi-auto.

That looks like a cracking gun, did someone on here buy it ? I'll be interested how they get the marks from the butt extension off as I have a SBS with the same thing.

I rarely comment on an ongoing sale but as its has sold, I will comment. It's not a mark, it's where the uncovered wood has bleached with sunlight. That section will have to be darkened to reduce the effect.

Understood, I didn't comment until it was sold either. Do you have any tips to help me and the buyer sort the stock out ?

I still think it's a beautiful gun.

I am not sure it will be an easy job but a competent cabinet maker could probably reduce the effect with stains. You often see this on the Antiques Road Show but on old furniture where it has sat for years with one area exposed to direct sunlight or part covered. Maybe a good gunmaker could assist but I think its more a wood specialist that is required. You could of course cover the bleached area and place the stock in sunlight for a few years until they matched :hmm:

This gun at that price was a great deal. A lot of quality gun for little money. I suppose its only limitation was being a skeet but with the right cartridge combination that's not a problem on most sporting layouts. Back in the 70's a friend had the an SO EELL with straight grip stock, a game gun really but he used it for clays......an absolutely beautiful gun.

This is worth a look, swing out locks and quality wood. Click on picture links at page bottom.
