Unlucky Geese!

As most of you know I'm not the best story teller and usually leave my pictures to tell the story so please excuse my poor skills!

Been watching a field close to the house for a few days with around 150 canada geese grazing on it. So last night i packed the sledge and decided to set the alarm for 6.30.

I was set up and ready by 7.10 and sat waiting and waiting and waiting! At 8am on the dot a single canada had set it's wings and was coming into my decoys perfectly. Bang bang bang miss!! To my surprise it flew about 200yards and then turned back heading straight towards me again! Managed to load two shells bang miss! Bang dead :-)!

Ten minutes later a group five were on the horizon so began calling and they were heading straight in, connected with the first shot then missed with the second and third!

Yes that's right 8 for 2! It gets worse!! A brew was needed.

It was about 8.45 and i was beginning to wonder where the other 144 geese were?! Then out of no where HONK they were on their way.

To cut the embarrassing story short I fired a further 11 shots yep you got it 16 for two :-( probably the worst shooting ever by me! But on the plus side I've got meat in the freezer and had a pleasant morning watching the sun come up :-D

Thanks for looking

i wont say how many shots i fired to hit my half of the 69 bag of geese last month, but i just had to get use to giving the lead in front, its quiet surprising but these birds are moving at a good speed/distance, but well done mate, never cooked a Canada but the Greylags taste great when the meat is slow cooked
