cooooper1
hi all, just come back from most probs the hardest days pigeon shooting i`ve have had, farmers been ringing me for the last 5 to 6 weeks to get the pigeons off his rape field and thats great BUT the numbers are coming down and days are becoming longer, my problem is when he ring i go and i know most of you are saying WHATS THE PROBLEM but the birds are there in big numbers between 400--600 sat in trees or on the ground feeding again BUT first shot gone. i`ve spoke to the farmer about this problem and all he sez to me LOOK AT THEM HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF THEM, so i just make a hide and sit it out for days total of 4 yes 4. so this is my problem this farmers got more ground and very good ground at that, looks like i`ll just have to go when he calls or joe bloggs will be in . JDog
If you do the 'hard yards' on winter rape at this time of the year you will be rewarded when the crops go down or when the stubbles come round. Just make sure that he sees you every time you go at this time of year and always call him with your report.

Tod
Had the same myself with farmer ringing to say the fields blue with them but one shot and their off, just keep a eye on it till they start to feed hard on it, as long as he sees you make an effort your reward will come at some point. cooooper1
Maybe get a shooting buddy, share your good fortune, have company and please the old farmer! that`ll mean two bored guns, problem pigeons just not staying after first shot, told the YOUNG farmer get a gas gun or banger on the field and set timer but like most farmers MONEY. since i`ve post this thread farmers asked me to try the rabbits on that field plus to more nearer by with rape damage with what he thinks is from rabbits,so i`ve asked him can i try my .22 rifle on the lamp tonight and he say yes as long as he can come along so had to say yes,not sure if i`m looking forward to this or not, should be interesting. lmao when he said see you around 6 then

sitsinhedges
that`s what i was thinking , lets see how i get on tonight first,it`s blowing a gale around here Must be about as bad as it can get. The moon is up so everything can see you, the ground is sodden so everything can hear you and you're largely stuck with walking, and the wind is blowing a gale so you're going to struggle to aim straight I'd give it a week or two until conditions improve. cooooper1
keep us posted/ hi la bala, well great nights lamping, farmer talking all the time till i had to say SHUT THE **** UP had to be done , . gave him some basic`s of lamping which as so as we started went out the window, on the field which started this thread there was half a dozen rabbits kicking around and we knocked two down, moved on to a field which believe or not as just been drilled(how he drilled that in this weather god know!)had to be 40 plus rabbits just sat around woodlands edges, knocked 14 down in that field, called it a night after that because we both couldn`t walk for the weigh of mud on are feet,so total 16 bunnys plus farmers going to let me use .22 on his land in future. just one last thing DON`T ever let a farmer drive you any where they are the slowest drives in the world
