Dr_evil
Int that the kinda age that likes to throw pistons etc through the head whilst doing 50mph and upwards ? Tbh I'd retrofit a 6cyl Patrol engine as they're meant to be rather good and a lot cheaper to buy!
al4x
that is the age that wrecks blocks, so really cost entirely depends what has actually happened. Blown can be anything from turbo gone to the engine being complete scrap. That age it would have to be really really cheap to be worthwhile Milners is worth a look and a new bottom end you are looking at £1800 inc vat with liners fitted and new pistons etc, so with other parts somewhere near 2K before fitting. Thats worst case requiring a new block bear in mind a lot of the cheaper engine replacements will be recon and surcharges will apply if you can put your fist through a hole in the block. jackinbox99
Might be cheaper to just buy a complete 2nd hand engine, rather than have the existing one rebuilt - but then you take a risk with the engine you buy as you may not know the full history of it. Last engine I bought was of evil bay.
al4x
The problem is D22 second hand engines are like rocking horse poo because so many go bang
four-wheel-drive
it used to be that if an engine conked out you could with a bit of work fit any engine in it but with all of the computer and censers all over the place its a bloody nightmare unless you can find a direct replacement ie same year same model etc etc probably best to leave it to someone who nows what they are doing its a pity but that is life today.
