team tractor
Nothing wrong with 11 ftlb . Most aa s400 only kick out 10.
Scottoj18
If its rabbits you wnt to shoot I believe that by the time the pellet hits (head shot) 4ftlb will humanly kill.. It's not just power to look for its accuracy make sure u can hit a orange time and time again from prone, kneeling, standing from different ranges 10-30 yards .. A rifle between 10-12 ftlb would be fine for these sorts of ranges... Welcome to Pw aswell Edited February 6, 2013 by Scottoj18
lee-kinsman
HW80, HW77, HW95 are all faultless in my opinion. Never had a HW97 otherwise I probably recommend one of those as well.
kent
The difference between 10-12ftlb means nothing to a rabbit or rat at 35yds. Pushing a gun higher is possible through minor mods but could easily land you in the dock if ANY PELLET contains more than the 12ft lb limit and wont help with accuracy. Welcome to Pw aswell Not wishing to start a war, but if rabbits are the intended quarry, accuracy will have to be far better than that. If however, oranges or indeed apples are the intended quarry, then crack on Edited February 6, 2013 by turbo33
Wharf Rat
If you start out with a 97K you could well finish with the same gun. They are built to last, eminantly tunable, accurate and there are no end of goodies available for them. I expect to still be shooting mine in 20 years time. Agree with Lee.All that he has mentioned are quality rifles and are good enough for your needs. ATB in whatever you choose.

You can't tell how hard I hit paper at 30yards ..ie it goes through you know the power being deliverd and easy to see but yes 2p grouping

shoota
I'm currently looking at either getting an AA pro sport or TX200 for my 1st springer, i like the Weirauchs but it's the Air Arms that have won me over

Good quality built guns and very accurate. But dont rule out the HW range though as their highly recommened guns again and pure work horses out in the field and have stood the test of time for decades. secretagentmole
Just be careful, there are some damned poor examples coming out of the HW factory with build quality levels that would disgrace an SMK., cut springs put in with no lube and no proper spring finishing, and this was on a recently purchased new 97! I would seriously look at an Air Arms TX200!
pest popper
Had a 97. They are ok, very solid, but as a gud to be used out in the field all day? There are much more suited guns. My first choice would be a HW95

shoota
If im honest it's the quality issuses that I've been reading about that's pushed me more towards air arms that and the fact that the air arms fac version are only 15 ft lb so less temptation to try and wind it up 3 ft lb wouldn't make a huge amount of difference so no point as I see it
nobby
You can't go wrong with a tx200. I have the mk2 and it is still deadly accurate, excellent build quality only down side is it is a little heavy but not to much to concern you unless you are out all day.
