the perfect clay cart?

Recommended Posts

I don't think it makes much difference, I have no preference between Fiocci, express, Eley Olympics, etc. whatever is cheapest. If you have confidence in a certain make go for it.

The only cart I don't like are Hull compx, but that is probably my own fault for missing a few clays with them and losing confidence in them....

If I had to pick....probably Eley Olympics (had to think about that!)

From a strictly scientific point of view it is highly unlikely, however not impossible that the perfect cartridge will ever exist. For example, the molecular engineering of new powders will continue, as will the development of new case materials, and primers and so on.

The matter of the fact is that the average shooter will never benefit from these minuscule advancements in material properties that will in tern improve cartridge performance as, at the end of the day, the shooters ability will far outweigh the performance of a cartridge. However at competitive level with the likes of george digweed and others, who miss sub 10 clays per 100, the advancements could possibly be to their advantage.

I personally think that many cartridges available today are perfectly adequate for even the best of shooters and that the best way that cartridge manufacturers could possibly improve their product, strictly from my point of view would be to improve the consistency of their product, hopefully, leading to every cartridge being the same and eliminating another variable.

Gamebore White Gold do not appear to hold George Digweed back too much so may be a good choice.

Doesn't matter what he shoots, the worst cartridge is better than the best shooter.

I am really disillusioned now! George Digweed shoots Greenfields at Sturry quite a bit. I was hoping if I sneaked some Dan Arms or Baikal shells into his bag and treated myself to White Gold it might even things up a bit.

But seriously, I agree with you entirely, few, if any of us can 'out perform' our cartridge choice. But as an answer to the OP question, seemed logical that top competitors are likely to pick a good cartridge.

If you use a lot, then stick to a cheaper cartridge, if you are sponsored or want to pay for it go for an expensive cartridge.

However if you stay with the same speed /shot size etc. you'll shoot consistently knowing what lead you require etc.

so for me 7.5 dan arms fibre,

when I want to play cool eley or express comps difference about £1 a box scores don't go up, but 30 secs of cleaning time saved ;-)
