alexl
Im currently looking for an over and under primarily for clays, Ive been looking around and am considering an mk38. Ive been umming and arring wheteher to get second hand or new. I am tending towards new at the moment, one thing i would like to know is, when purchasing new guns is it possible to negotiate much on the price? Cheers Alex

retromlc
cash is always king fella the only time I've had a deal is if the gun is over priced, many dealers know if their guns are well priced from searching the internet and know if it's a keen price they don't have to do a deal

alexl
Depends what your budget is I use a browning gti ultra plus for clays and I paid £895 for it! I did see that and its not too far away from me really, i considered it, but its been converted to a sporter (not sure how much difference that really makes) I would also ideally like a multichoke aswell for added versatility in the future? Sx3 clay breaker
You won't regrett it mate I've got a mk 38 trap grade 5 and love it
alexl
You won't regrett it mate I've got a mk 38 trap grade 5 and love it It does seem to fit me best out of all the guns ive held, apart from a Caesar Guerini which realy did feel nice but its a bit over my budget even though second hand. TBH if this was £300 cheaper than the dealer wanted i would probably go for that.
Rupert
There are a few MK 38 out there on dealers shelves that are new but dont have this years serial no,more likely to get a deal on one of those.
Fuji Shooter
I've just got a grade 5 mk38 that was sporterised by Teague. With the adjustable stock and my raised 20mm rib its the best thing I have shot for years.
grousemoor
Nice gun. It's always worth making an offer, but buying a new gun the depreciation is high, you lose the vat for a start. There are some good second hand deals out there...

Go to the most expensive and they will probably knock £300 off to bring it in line with the other local dealers and that'll make you feel like you nailed a deal...not. OvEr_KiLL
my advise would be to try a few shotguns first and see which one fits you and you are comfortable with! if the dealer has a clay ground they will probably let you try it first if its second hand which discipline are you wanting to go for? trap (down the line, automatic ball trap etc.) or english sporting? My nearest dealer is on a clay ground im going to pop in tomorrow and have another look round.

Brown Sauce
Had the option when I bought my mk38 sporter, of new at £1300 or secondhand at £850 like new. Needless to say I spent the remaining £450 on cartridges, glasses, cleaning kit, vest, bag etc etc. Obviously buyer beware on any secondhand purchase and if you're not happy walk away. Good luck with which ever way you decide.
