Thelongwayup
had truck in 4wh in snow but only get to about 40 mph is this normal ? Not sure if it's classic or new shape but in my new one we have done 60mph no bother in 4H. Sure you haven't stuck it in 4L by mistake? al4x
The 4x4 on the older ones isn't really made for high speed or surfaces that aren't permanently slippery but I must confess I've no idea if mine goes over 40 but I did think 4h used the same ratios as 2wd
trowel 7
its at 3000 rpm doing 40 in 4wh thought it might go a bit quicker

NIGHT SEARCHER
3000 rpm doing 40 mph you are in low range not 4x4 high range. 3000 rpm in high range you will be doing 70 to 75 mph.

houlsby
Ahh that's something.. I made the mistake of thinking it was in "gearbox" neutral.. When it was in fact in 4wd hi. Double check. Forward is hi 4wd back is hi 2wd foreword left up is low 4wd
njc110381
Sounds about right from what I can remember. Edit... Don't forget it doesn't stop any quicker in 4wd! Over 40mph in snow is starting to get risky unless you're the only one on the road. Edited February 12, 2013 by njc110381
utectok
I'd say if you can drive faster than 40mph in snow you should be in 2wd!
