Suffolk Shooter, you may have heard the phrase "British by birth, English by the grace of God" before. Not that you could get away with saying that in public without (as you rightly pointed out) being hounded for being un-PC. I've never understand why people accept the Scots, Welsh and Irish being nationalistic, sometime even fiercely jingoistic, yet the English are expected to be meek and quiet about their heritage.

I agree that voting for the BNP should not HAVE to be the first choice, but I reckon it's a good way to use a vote. However, as per this article today, maybe Dave Cameron may have the rocks to claim a victory at the next general election: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../27/npoll27.xml

To some degree this would be good, but the trouble is with any new government they spend five years supposedly trying to put right the mistakes that led to the downfall of the previous one. On the face of it the tories have always been the country persons friend in relation to sporting rights etc, however looking through some of the magazines, papers recently it would seem that the PC brigade may have an effect on the tories with the advent on stricter laws relating to countrysports in general. Methinks that Tories and Labour are one and the same under different packaging. :)

The Poppy Appeal's collectors are now out in force. The forlorn chap, immaculately dressed with his medals on show, at the stand at Marylebone Station said that very few people had donated anything so far. I offloaded my pile of change that I have accumulated at work. Why not arrange with the local Poppy Appeal rep to get a box of poppies for your office, and a collection box?

Obviously you must take into account the sensibilities of the Muslims and other 'minorities' before you send an office-wide email recommending such a worthy cause.......

I totally agree it's about time we stood up for our rights and beliefs before we become anonymous in our own country. Whats next on the PC list christmas?:)

Don't mate, seriously. Where my Mrs works they are not allowed to have a tree or decorations in case it offends the Jews or Muslims, its PC gone completely mad

Done. :D I remember on the news last year they were walking around the streets asking people what the poppy meant to them and if they even knew what it was. Some person of an ethnic minority origin didn't have a clue about what it meant and thought it was something to do with the Labour party. :) Needless to say Dad screaming 'Then go back to where you came from.' at the T.V woke me up that morning.

FM

If I go somewhere on holiday I try to learn some lingo, something about customs and practices in that place and will try my best. The English have this reputation of being yobs, and to a certain extent I can see why. I do this out of respect, and to try and break down barriers.

I am only on holiday though, these people come to live here and have me pay them and can't even be bothered to try to integrate. Live in their own communities, no attempt to learn my language or customs.

Grr..

i have the pleasure of living in a country that has a lot of military assosiation with England through the wars of this world, i beleive Canada and its people are proud of their military history, i have a poppy this year as last year as i will next year and on, i understand people gave their lives for the rights of others to have free will but i pray their memories will never be lost, my friends father passed away some years ago and was honoured by the Canadian legion flag of honour, a very moving moment, time for thought.
