jweaver
This question has been bothering me for a while and I figure that someone could answer this. I have a SGC and own a couple of Shotguns Guns.. My colleague is an FAC and has a selection of rifles, but no shotguns. I recently bought a Semi and my FAC friend liked it and started to think about getting himself one.. I suggested he should go down the FAC route and get a 7+1, but we were both curious whether this would limit its use. If someone is an FAC and has an FAC Shotgun.. Could they still use this at a Clay Ground, if they only load it 2+1? I got the feeling that an Clay ground does not allow Section 1 weapons to be used... But I guess that no-one would ever know that it was an FAC if it was only used as a 3 shot.. But is it legal to use a Section 1 gun this way? CZ550Kevlar
As long as you have the clay condition on your section 1 it's fine. However some clay grounds don't like section 1's full stop.

So you could have a 7+1 Semi/Pump and no clay condition?
CZ550Kevlar
Yep there is such a thing as a clay condition as I have it on my licence, and yes you can have a section 1 that is vermin/pigeons only.

Ahha.. Interesting.. So if you have a "clay condition" does it limit you else where? Why would you NOT have a Clay Condition on a shotgun? Sorryif my questions are a bit benign, btu I am generally interested in understanding this. Jon

Jon Because some people want a high capacity shotgun for practical shotgun reasons or for vermin/pigeons and some forces don't like high capacity shotguns used for clays. Breastman
The clay condition is supposed to be added automatically but i'm yet to hear of someone who has got it without having to ask. Never heard of anyone having a problem getting it though. As has been said, as long as you have the condition on your FAC you're fine but some clay grounds are funny about S1 shotguns. None of the grounds i have been to have had an issue with either of my S1 guns as long as i just load 2 at a time Edited February 22, 2013 by Breastman
MAL S
most grounds only let you put 2 carts in at ant one time
washerboy
On my local clayground website it says no more then two cartridges in a semiauto but watched a woman Take 3 shots at 2 clays.
CZ550Kevlar
I think the most fun I've had is at a private shoot we did DTL with section 1's I have never used so many cartridges in one day.
100milesaway
Most clay grounds would not allow you to use 3 in the spout, unless it is a particular 3 shot auto comp. Don't risk it, i have seen people asked to leave grounds for loading 3. from Auntie.
CZ550Kevlar
One thing I'm not sure about is section 1 etiquette at clay grounds, yes you have the clay condition and yes you will only load 2 at a time but......... Should you advise/ask them about using a section 1 or just keep quiet. Personally why tell them as most Section 1 shotguns are completely identical in size etc to a standard shotgun it just doesn't have a crimped mag tube. Breastman
Ring and ask before you go if its the first time, other than that why bother?
leeds chimp
how would they know its a section 1 shotgun tho unless you tell them??
hillmouse
A Section 1 with an extension tube for 7+1 or 8+1 is pretty obvious. 4+1's look no different.
Radar70
Dont tell them and only load 2 pump or semi auto or they may ask you to leave , i run a shoot and i would warn then ask to leave its cheating 2 clays 2 shots not three .If you have another reason for a section 1 its fine otherwise just get a shotgun cert sorted .Section 1s are harder to sell its the same with FAC air rifles .
