DM80 Moderator - is this normal

Hi all,

Been using my DM80 moderator on my .17hmr for a few weeks now and have shot approximately 300 rounds through it. I've cleaned it after every outing and just wanted to check with other DM80 owners that whats going on inside is normal...

I have to say I thought this mod would be a bit quieter than it is, my SAK moderator which is primarily for use on my .22lr seems a fair bit quieter than this particular DM80.

Inside the baffles, there seems to be a build up of crud that I can't shift, either that or its wearing around the holes if that makes sense. I've attached a photo which may or may not assist!

I don't think that its clipping but I just wanted to be sure its not wearing too much too soon.

Apologies but clearly the photo didn't come out as well as I thought! I think the mark at 1 o clock is from manufacture and it is mirrored the other side. I'm more concerned at the state of the hole a bit further down that almost looks like corrosion around it, although the hole still appears perfectly circular. Just wanted to see if it was normal - especially after it does seem to be louder than my SAK...

  • 3 weeks later...

Remmy is right.

I have a DM UNIVERSAL so fits my .17HMR & my .22LR provided I change the front exit ring.

I have had Sax Sound Mod, Wildcat Whisper / Growler & others on my .17HMR None of which made the HMR as quiet as the DM80 BUT there is no sound mod which can make it totally quiet due to the MV 2600 fps

If your not happy phone Dave Mersier, I would give you he's phone number but the one I have for him for some reason no longer works. I to need to speak to him about totaly something else to do with my DM80 SO if any one has it then PLEASE could you PM me it thx :)

Just found an email address for him off here

david.mercer80@ntlworld.com

Thx all now sorted, emailed him & await a reply.
