sako751sg
Took the dugs a walk to the same two places as Monday, taking the .17Hmr hopefully for a fox.Way milder than the last few days and plenty of roe cutting about.Spotted a fox around the 200 mark but had to get closer with the small rifle, and by the time i did he had ambled away.Nay spooked so hopefully will try to set up there later and get him. Next place was where i saw the fox the last time, and a very slow walk up the valley which seem devoid of everything but rabbits, but on walking back the way the different angle showed a fox curled up catching a wee bit of "sun".Wouldnt have been much further than 80 yards,so i set up the sticks and stuck the rifle on and tried to get a decent shot on him.On cue,he stood up,sat and then lay doon at a much better angle and on the shot he streched oot and never moved again.A big old dog fox, good nick although he was leanish looking compared to some.Good result as for some reason this place loses way too many lambs to foxes, and i presume its with the size of valley theres great cover for them. sako751sg
Top conservation fella! Cheers Alan. nice to get a daylight fox for a change he looks dark underneath ... are you just pointing your camera down your scope ?? Was a fair age of a dog Andy, and scruffy compared to most. Most of my foxes are taken in daylight, earlyish morning, but you have to know the places and be very switched on.Camera just zoomed in doon the scope and take a pic.Seems to work ok,and i think it will be clearer through the Zeiss hopefully. Well done Dave. Great write-up and pics as always bud. Cheers Mark. Nice job on the Fox Dave and pretty keen shot with the HMR. You might do at Coyote stalking!!(with more gun) Great pics as usual, I like the photo through the scope--that is a neat view. Cheers Timothy. Not the perfect calibre for foxes but used within sensible limits its spot on,although twice this week ive taken it and would have a fox with the .243 whereas i couldnt take the shot with the wee rifle.Hopefully away to a deer fair next weekend and going to see what there is in the way of .17 hornet and .204 as im fancying something else in the cabinet specifically for fox. ye well done and good shooting terrain Ta fella.Great ground for foxes for sure.
