i went out this morning about 9ish and not a bird in sight,

 

but the other day when i was passing the same field about 150 birds took off,

 

so whats the best time to shoot, i can't do early mornings and struggle to get out in the evening because of having small kids,

seems to be the case been out 4 times now drawn blank everytime but once where i bought home 6 birds,

Summer time, lol, too cold wet and miserable the last few weeks for me.

I think this time of the year its pot luck, you can go out several times in a row and see virtually no birds then for no reason the next time get birds coming in all day, I drive the same route several times a week and always look out for the flocks, most days they will be in the same place but for no reason they will suddenly switch to some other crop or area just for one day then return to their normal feeding pattern the next day, winter time its always more productive to find flight lines or roosts, they are far more consistant.

I went out for a walk to check some drillings. One field had about 150 birds on so I went back half an hour later with all my kit, set up and sat there for two hours without seeing a single bird Most annoying.

Same here, I've noticed that the flocks are now splitting so should start having better chances. Went out the other day, good activity 9 til 12 then nothing the rest of the day.

New to shotguns and pigeons, but the difference from the last couple of weeks was that today there was a lot more smaller groups...i was shooting from 3pm-6.30pm today.
