pavman
Gents, Changes at work mean my company car will be replaced by an allowance in April next year. My boss has agreed I can use the allowance to finance and run a new motor and a truck is ok as long as it’s clean and less than 5 years old. As much as I love my defender its 16 years old and I will have to sell it as the new one will double and daily transport as well as to cover my shooting and fishing. I need to look at possible 0% finance deals, but am a bit stuck as to what to go for, I need 4 seats and a covered truck that can fit a 3 bar roof rack system for my fowling boat. Its needs to be 4X4, and mileage will be quite high so economy is very important along with generous service intervals. I like the look of the Nissan range and the Ford Rangers any feed back welcome

al4x
Navara crew cab if you want to be canny with your money, a lowish miler will be yours for well under 10K keep two years and sell on 100K and you'll still get at least 5K back. Not bad economy wise and pretty good for the miles. Not sure about 0% finance that would be difficult. Other options are an Xtrail or free lander if you're after something more car like Oh and rangers are pretty basic miles behind the Nissan in the comfort stakes. Though on second thoughts they're still lightyears ahead of an old Landie
M ROBSON
The Ford Ranger are ok, pretty cheap to get work done on too. My mate has a Navara and loves it to bits, better mpg than the Ranger too. Mark.
heweyvts
Pavman, Best bet is to go and have a drive of them and see for yourself. My mate has a Nissan and I was surprised about how little leg room there is in the back, not good for any passengers if your doing long journeys. pavman
Right then just been down the Nissan dealer, Any Truck has VAT even if is second hand, i really liked the King Cab as they have a big buck and you can get a hard top, but the extra 17.5% is a killer, they come in at 30MPG on Diesel so not much better than my old Landi The X Trail is a 2.2 Diesel Estate and gives 40MPG, but its more urban than Jungle, and i know i am gonna screw the interior
Cranfield
Its very difficult to try to buy a "combination" vehicle, I found it imposssible and gave up. My Wife drives the VW Passat Estate (which we use for "best") and I have my Surf for fishing, shooting, getting dirty and generally travelling about. Good luck. njc110381
If I had the money, I'd buy a new shape Nissan Navara. It's an amazing truck! If you want a slightly older model, go with a late Mitsubishi L200. The prices have come down a lot since the new shape (I don't like it!) arrived. I think you can get them up to 55 plate. I have a 6 year old L200. Being reasonable with the right foot gets me 400 miles per fill @ about £50. Whatever you do, don't buy a Vauxhall! They are cr*p in my opinion (which is backed up by my local garage, they see loads of them with broken gearboxes) Good luck with it buddy. If you can afford it, the new Navara drives almost like a car, and is surprisingly quick for a truck of its size.
Devon Fox
Got to be a Narvara, drive one on the syndacite days, its a beast, the crew cab can be kept spotless and the back ..... well thats a different story !
njc110381
Also, I'm sure VAT only applies to used vehicles that have had it claimed back by the last owner (VAT registered companies) If you get one that was private owned, or small, non VAT registered company owned, they will have paid the vat. It should only be charged once!
chippy18
Hi i have a Niisan Navara and they are superb. Mine is a 2004 model and i paid £10,990 when i got mine with 22000 miles. The spec on them is superb with all the bits, ac climate control, CD, air bags etc and they handle great. Mine is a 2.5 turbo diesel and i would say that i get more than 30 to the gallon. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. Cheers
EvoCars
the isuzu crew cabs are the best in my opinion, most powerful diesel engines u can get in pickups i think, and last for ever if looked after, and they look realy tidy aswell
