peas

The drills of today don't leave a lot on top so unless a pilot error there won't be much for the pigeons to eat.

Peas have always been my favorite crop as pigeons seem to hit them throughout the year.

Best time I have found is to be when they first break through the surface then again just before the combine rattles through them.

The good thing about peas is they will hit them all the time they are in the ground, and when combined. I would start with just decoys then use a magnet if they arnt commiting to the pattern. I tend to use they magnet more later on when the crop is higher and the decoys are less visible

In my area (Essex), peas used to be the Holy Grail, but nowerdays it seems the pigeons can take it or leave it, mainly eating OSR with side dishes of tree buds, clover in paddocks and anything else where they are hard to shoot! Even pea stubble is a big yawn to them.

Good luck!!
