theosmith
When i go in the slosh, Im going to just have a word with my boss about keeping a quad in the yard but suspended in the air and get it road legal and ask my neighbour if when it at home if i can just keep it in there garden
scotslad
No real easy solution. Cheapest would be to buy a battery pack and a pair of wellies Jimny's aren't great on fuel but all the 4x4's aren't much better and most won't touch a jimny off road on wet ground as all too heavy, my bro got a brand new l200 in Jan to get better fuel consumption than his 56 plate got about an extra 20-30 mies per tank. Buger all really when u consider the outlay I ended up buying an old scrapper 2wd pick up as sick off running my l200, yes 2 ins and road tax but i do a lot off work about 40-50 miles away and save about £70-80 a week in desiel. Run it with winter tyres on and it's surprising where it goes esp as usually pulling a light trailer. Be surprised where u can put a 2wd if u put off road tyres on the front. To fit a quad on a trailer u really need a 6ft 6" by 4ft trailer so u will need a van that size to fit 1 in. As others have said ur mpg will not be grea running about with that in the back. Also it's not always that easy to register and insure a quad for the road if it has not been registered from new, i know the dealers we deal with say they won't do it as too much hassle, can be a hassle when registering a new 1, end's up being a chicken and egg thing with insurance and number plate. (won't insure as no number plate, won't register a plate as no insurance) Depending if u only lamp on 1 piece of land, buy a cheapy scrappy quad (some off old honda's are bomb proof) and just leave it hidden somewhere on the ground, possibly chain it to a tree or something. I'm not a great believer in locking things up as crooks can usually unlock them fairly easy, i'd hide it somewhere out the way and awkward for opurtunist thieves, leave it at the bottom of a hill with no battery so a long hard push out. I had a spare quad for a while and just left up shoot for months hidden below some windblow, cut a wee track in specially for it. Would never have found it, but depends on ur ground Another random option would be to try and find a 2nd hand 'Ecorider' basically a normallish 2 wheel bike but has almost quad size tyres, can actually get mounting that fit on ur tow bar that the bikes sit on at back off motor. They never caught on so don't imagine many about, Carrs-Billington used to be 1 off there agents so could have some lying about. Thet did look quite good
