captainsensible
Finished four 12 hr nights this morning and decide to be up at 11.00 and out for some pigeon, especially as tomorrow is supposed to be pouring down, here at least. Then fate (and life) intervened. Got to my nearest permission at 4 pm and not a flight line in sight. 45 mins to next one so I decided to set up on a field that the odd crow or pigeon drop into on their way home to roost. Two hours later I pack up with one woodie in the bag! Was I dis-heartened, was I fud. Two hours in the fresh air, watching a cock pheasant and several blackbirds popping out of the hedgerow to drink at one of the remaining puddles, ducks and cormorants flying overhead towards the fishing lake. A big round yellowish thing in the sky. Didn't recognise it but it felt quite pleasant. My lovely new (to me) gun lying across my knees. It's a silver pigeon C - case hardened and love at first sight ( you understand don't you?). At five-ish a single woodie comes across the field towards me. It doesn't look like its going to land but it finds the decoys interesting enough to drop a little lower for a look. Thank God I remember to click off the automatic safety just before I pull the trigger (haven't had one of those for a while) and the woodie drops dead 10 yards in front of the hide. New gun, first shot, one shot, one kill. That'll do.

JDog
I enjoyed your story. The next time you post you will have lost your 100% record with that gun but you may have a few more pigeons.
browning123
Well done with your new gun - I also have a Silver Pigeon but have never seen a case hardened example, how long have they been on the market?

Hi B I'm afraid I don't know how long they have been on the market, I only "discovered" them a couple of months ago but I dug out an old Beretta catalogue (probably about 6/7 years old) and they were in that. Obviously missed them at the time. Hopefully the link to the Beretta site page below will work Cheers Link didn't show. I'll try again http://www.beretta.com/Long-guns/Field-guns/Over-and-Unders/Silver-Pigeon-C-Mobilchoke/index.aspx?m=82&f=2&id=

captainsensible
thought it was a mcnab at 1st glance, ive never seen one either Hi Delburt You may find a few pics on Guntrader or Gunstar but they don't hang about long and I found wanted requests on a few shooting forums. I missed the first two I went after and got this one from Simpsons in Newmarket. First time I had dealt with them and Mr Barry Simpson was extremely helpfull. captainsensible
Ok thanks, nice looking gun, is Barry Simpson the same person I know as the past champion clay shot? Absolutely. And his son Paul ( who works in the shop with him) is also a champion shooter.
