a proper company would do 3 visits

1st, place baits

2nd check baits and top up if neccessary

3rd remove bait

doing only 2 visits??? cowboys

for private jobs I charge £90 for 3 visits, rats or mice

With RAT boxes, how many boxes would you lay for that? £90 Total or each visit, is that all inclusive of baits and bait stations?

cheers folks thought they wanted a bit to much

They don't want too much because we don't know what they are doing, is it 6 Rat Boxes they are laying, I charge more than that for 6 rat boxes? Are they burrow baiting and doing any proofing? Mouse boxes are cheaper but you still have site time and transport cost!

What does concern me is 2 visits! :hmm::hmm: There are VERY few site where the problem will be solved in 2 visits!

they left 3 trays of bait an 3 boxs

As with so many threads we can start wondering.

TRAYS, are you saying Open bait trays, can you see the bait, where are these, internal/external, do you have any pets/young children or do the neighbours have any cats/whatever?

Are the boxes nearer to 100x75mm or 250x200mm?

My issue was always that a first visit is just a technician putting down bait. Then by the second visit they have just started nibbling the bait (Dependant on if they have another food source and what bait you are using) and thus may not have reached the LD50. Then by the time the last visit comes and the bait is taken, they may be more that haven't had the chance yet...

If they wolf down the bait and then have nothing left over until the next visit - I would make the assumption that if it's a slow acting poison such as something with bromadiolone or dyfenicoum in then it may not clear the problem in one hit.

For mice, there is some stuff Rentokil do which is pretty awesome called 'Alpha Rapid' which is alphachloralose. It induces a very quick hypothermia which they die from sometimes whilst still chewing. The only issue of using this is that others will quickly get shy if they see their dead bretherin in the boxes (Unlike conventional baits which they don't realise is killing them).

If I would have to pay for pest control, I would negotiate a rate for the initial visit and follow ups, and then arrange a rate for potential follow ups so that they don't over charge you if the treatment hasn't finished it's job.

I supply the rat boxes only for the duration of the contract, they along with bait are removed on the final visit, thus boxes can be used on a number of jobs, keeps prices down, after all what would a customer want with rat boxes if I have done my job properly, they wont have rats
