Davy Holt
Hiya, Not posted much on here for a while due to being too busy, so this is as good a time as any to start again I went out to see a new farmer yesterday after work that had called me about some foxing, not really expecting much I decided to drop by on the way to one of my other permission to have a chat with him. As I drove up the lane towards the yard, the place was alive with Woodies and Crows so started thinking to myself .. this could be ok introduced myself to the farmer and started talking about what he was looking for me to do, main issue was foxes as the lambing is due to start in a few days, No problem I said.. how many sheep do you have ? to which he replied oh about 2500 rather stunned I replied how big is the farm.. just over 2000 acres he replied ... it took a hell of a lot of effort not to start in front of him lol. After a long chat he took me for a spin on the ATV to show me where the foxes are usually seen and showed me where three of the boundaries were, stating the other being about 4 miles in that direction, pointing across the moor . I felt a quick change of plans was in order and I arranged to have a quick go at the crows on the ground before having a wander with the lamp n Triple. The first field had around 30 carrions sitting about 200 yards out, I managed a BOGOF deal with the first 50 grain V-MAX nailing 2 Crows with the first shot Strangely enough that upset just about every crow in the area and no more shots were presented for the Triple. As it started to get dark I set up station in a big reasonably flat field bordered by thick wood on three sides, It didn't take much calling before a pair of eyes appeared in the wood but , it wouldn't show for a clear shot :( A move to another field seen this fella wandering around about 150 yards out I called it quits not much later and have arranged to do ta full shift on Friday & Saturday night... I think I'm gonna like this place
