leeds chimp
Having just sold my set of delkims txi+ I am looking to replace them with a more basic alarm as they hardly get used Looking at the delkims EV but wondering if I am missing any other out from fox etc as never used or looked at them
Oli
i just use fox micron's i know they arent that flash but they go beep when there is a fish on and wake me up just fine, think they were around 30 quid each.
leeds chimp
Just keeping my options open as never looked at fox Just want one that can be as adjustable as delkims
Oli
Never used Delkims so not sure what you can adjust on them tbh, but the only bells and whistles you have on the microns are volume and a rough sensitivity adjustment. They've only failed me on one occasion when i woke to find most of the line gone on one of my reels and the line at 90 degrees to the rod down the other end of the lake. TBH that could have been operator error though with me not making sure it sat properly on them. Still it gave my mates something to laugh about. Penelope
The Fox microns are very good basic buzzers, but you'll not find a budget basic alarm that has all of the adjustable features like the TXi's. My personal favourite for carp fishing are the ATTX's. Absolutely bomb proof.
fenboy
The fact is , you just dont need all the sensitivity the delkim alarms provide , I know some think its cool making a steady run seem like a screamer but I bet 99% of the anglers I know who use delkims for carp / pike fishing hardly ever use the sensitivity control and those that do are up most of the night getting false bleeps and generally getting on other anglers tits. have a look for some second hand fox micron MMX 's all the sensitivity you need with tone and volume control , and a nice sized alarm , they normally go for around £30 each nowdays s/h

fenboy
Cheers adi will look into them a bit as don't need or want an all singing and dancing now I used a set for a good few years before buying my attx alarms and had no problems at all , you can also pick up the TXR remote kit for little money now if you want a wireless set up. Browning 425 clay hunter
Fox micron in cammo £40. Small, reliable and with volume, tone and sensitivity controls. Never let me down and owned for about 4 years.

Mr-Sheen
I have to confess that i am somewhat of an alarm tart, i have a set of steve nevilles, parsons, delkim txi+ and fox micron eos r's. Without a doubt the ones that get used the most are my original steve nevilles with 8 magnet rollers and att remote system. couldn't be more simple, have an on and an off switch and NEVER go wrong (also they look pretty sexy on shortened bars haha) The Delks are the only others that get used and thats only when i need them for fishing at range on big pits with tow or in strong winds. The fox's never get used and the parsons are hopeless but look cool, they are resigned to tench or perch fishing with my small water set up now. So, in conclusion, go with Steve nevilles. You won't regret it. heres a link to the alarms and receiver system: alarms: http://johnsonrosstackle.co.uk/product.php?id_product=12224 receiver: http://johnsonrosstackle.co.uk/product.php?id_product=1508
Penelope
IMO the sensitiviy function on Delkims (I have 4 Mk1's) is a great thing to have when pike fishing using open bail arms and braid. For carp fishing I would agree that it's not really needed. Agree with the MMX's (Have 4 of these too) a very good carping alarm. The fact is , you just dont need all the sensitivity the delkim alarms provide , I know some think its cool making a steady run seem like a screamer but I bet 99% of the anglers I know who use delkims for carp / pike fishing hardly ever use the sensitivity control and those that do are up most of the night getting false bleeps and generally getting on other anglers tits. have a look for some second hand fox micron MMX 's all the sensitivity you need with tone and volume control , and a nice sized alarm , they normally go for around £30 each nowdays s/h Edited April 25, 2013 by Penelope

Nicholas Bottoms
I rarely use mine and I cant quite remember what make they are but I know I picked them up at a fishing show where they were selling them off cheap, had them for at least three years and never had a problem with them so shows are the place to look!
