First fox with the triple.

Hi all, had a reasonably successful night last night. Managed to christen the triple with its first fox. A friend of mine has been having chickens taken so we decided to have a shine around to see if we could catch up with this cunning killer. We saw a set of us right by the chicken shed no more than 50 yards from us, as soon as the light went on the fox was off! No doubt very shy to the lamp! We turned the lamp off immediately and let it go quiet , we gave it 20 seconds or so before having another shine. He was sat out around 200-250 yards away at the far end of the field. Obviously some of you fellas on here would have nailed it there and then but I felt with my limited experience with the triple I should try and get him in closer. We squealed for a good 10 minutes trying to get him in with the light off. We managed to get him into around 140 or so yards, no doubt this fox had been shot at before , he was very wary. I took the shot resting off the car door and dropped him. We got up to him straight away to find he wasn't properly dead so swiftly dispatched him with the 12bore. On inspected the shot was poor and it totally shattered his pelvis area, the vmax doing its job. Not happy with the shot but it's one less chicken killer on the farm, I've taken the rifle out today to check the zero again thinking it may have got a knock at sometime last night but it was bang on where it should be so can only put the shot placement down to poor shooting. My only excuse is I'm currently using a 6x44 scope scope so could hardly see it , but I'm getting a new scope soon hopefully, but I've been able to punch paper well enough with this scope so I can't blame it on the scope! Anyway we had a quick look round for another one put nothing, saw 3 roe deer though which is always promising to see! We shot 4 rabbits on the way back though with the shotgun, grass is getting a bit too long now though! All in all a good night. Cheers all

Whoops sorry seem unable to upload the photo, anyone know how to do it off an iPhone 4?

Don'y beat yourself up for pulling a shot mate. I doubt if there is a single shooter amongst us that hasn't done it at some time or other, even if we choose not to admit to it.

You nailed the chicken thief and dispatched it as quickly and humanely as possible, that is what matters.

Well done for getting the job done, and respect to you for admiting that you pulled the shot! :good:

Excellent, after that read the picture ain't needed.

Your modesty is fantastic, thankyou.

The pelvis shot is a fatal shot, not quick but it is over soon.

You attempting to get the range down was demonstrative of a man who knows his limitatations and is not consumed with ego.

I salute you sir :)

Underdog.
