Dirty Harry
I'm after my first pcp air rifle to be used by me and my two sons. Trouble is my youngest if a leftie! Me and my eldest are right handed like most normal people. I have almost decided on the HW100 KT but was also considering the AA S410 TDR because the stock is ambidextrous. Do you know if there are any other good ambidextrous guns on the market I should be looking at and is there anything I should be aware of with the HW and AA? Also how much effort is it to fill the HW with a pump? Thanks Harry
HW682
The AA S410 Superlite is also ambidextrous, if that helps.

timmytree
How old and how big are the boys? The HW 100 range are hefty lumps so if the lads are younger the HW may be a handful for anything other than rested shots. For smaller people the AA/CZ 200 may be a better option because of the weight saving and save money to put towards their own rifles in the future. It is an adult friendly gun though, I'm 6ft 3" but use one without trouble. Another plus point is it's an easy rifle to top up with a pump rather than depending on a bottle all the time. Dirty Harry
I had a look at air arms stuff yesterday but there was no 510 superlight so I will look onto that. Kids are a very tall 9 and average 7. They won't be walking round with it but shooting off a bipod or bench.
secretagentmole
The new BSA SE ranges are ambidextrous (ie the Scorpion SE and the Ultra SE). The Hatsan AT44 is as well from what I can remember!
demonwolf444
Ambi guns are always ambi right up to the point that the bolts on the wrong side. Just learnt to live with it.
Twistedsanity
As above, the hw100 is an excellent workhorse but very heavy in comparison to other rifles , TDR is lightweight but has a low shot count , I have never filled an air rifle with a pump but wouldn't want to try either ! HW682
I had a look at air arms stuff yesterday but there was no 510 superlight so I will look onto that. Just a note - AA spell it as "superlite". Probably won't make much difference, but it might help to get more google results one example http://clarkesgunshop.co.uk/new-gun-range/air-rifles-pre-charged/air-arms-superlite-s510-3-versions Edited May 18, 2013 by HW682
Sha Bu Le
I'm after my first pcp air rifle to be used by me and my two sons. Trouble is my youngest if a leftie! Also how much effort is it to fill the HW with a pump? Thanks Harry I have a HW100 S in 0.22 and as other members have said they are a bit of a heavyweight but shooting from tripod or bench rest should not be difficult. Provided the air reservoir is kept topped up it will not be a problem for you to use a pump but the two lads may have a bit of a struggle esp when approaching 200 Bar. If you opt for a HW100 you will find them superbly accurate and powerful, mine consistently puts out 11.7 with RWS superdomes. Having said that I know people with AA410's who are also very impressed with their accuracy. Whatever you go for good luck to the lads with their shooting. Would not mind a Daystate myself but around 1200 sovs is a lot to fork out, then a scope on top. BTW I use a Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50 AO IR. (though not used the IR yet) good value at around £85 and consistently accurate good at holding zero (to be expected on a PCP) and pretty good optics. If you go for used gear you could probably get a decent set up for around £650-£700 either HW or AA, have a look on Gunwatch. The thing with these makes is the owners treat them better than their wives so if you do get a used gun it will be in excellent condition. Bought mine used and thought it just come out of the box. No real issues with my gun so far, the seals will eventually start to leak but that's par for the course with whatever uses rubber seals. Did have a loose barrel, easily fixed by tightening a screw. Twistedsanity
all the contraversy about pumps and moisture becomes quite confusing, i had a long conversation with Dave Welham last year who knows a thing or two about air rifles and he was insitant that regardless of which pump and moisture traps you use they are still a very bad idea

Dirty Harry
Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting the HW100KT with a Hawke 4-12 50 AO IR and a 7ltr cylinder. Zeroed to 30 yards last night and managed sub 1 inch group with 14 shots before the gauge hit the yellow.
