sitsinhedges
Go to a local roofing company, make sure they know you aren't a pikie on the rob and they will sell you some old lead at scrap prices £1/kg where I go.

Vince Green
Hi Sable i have just been quoted £1.20 a kilo to buy from my local scrap dealer Cheers Daz Strangely, a lot of scrap dealers say they can't resell to the public. I don't know why.

ThePestControllers
most small scrap dealers will trade with you but its getting harder now with the new regs. your supposed to have id to sell lead or be a registered scrap dealer to buy it. But i have found if you speak French you can get away with it
sitsinhedges
don't think they are lead now. You're right. Maybe five or six years ago you might have got a reasonable per-centage out of their bins as older tyres were replaced but now they're pretty much all zinc. I don't know why.If there is any truth in this....then, if it is illegal for the public to buy lead, then it is illegal for people to GIVE LEAD to the public.....then, if this is the case, then it will be ILLEGAL to own lead.....and illegal to use it.......LEAD SHOT BANNED....END OF..... Watch out! Edited May 26, 2013 by Floating Chamber

Watch out! There's no doubt some health and safety angle to it but the big scrappies wont resell it. Maybe they're worried you'll drop it on your toe and sue them. ThePestControllers
i think it is because the lead they get could of come from anywhere like batteries and contain allot of sulphuric acid. so they are not supposed to sell it on for obvious reasons. after it has been processed and purified then it can be sold. the best bet is not to let the scrap dealers get their hands on it in the first place
