SakoQuad
they have featured here before and someone tried them I believe - decision was that they were a waste of money and to be avoided if I remember correctly.
elgreco
I've been looking for a less expensive CENS Proflex equivalent, there must be something on the market surely? My MSA Sordins get too sweaty in the summer. Any suggestions would be welcome Cheers Tom
spanj
emtec noisebreakers
welshwarrior
I used them when my CENS went in for a service once I'd found the best fitting plug I found them very good not as easy to adjust the noise levels as cens or as comfortable but better than Sonics or any other reactive plugs I've tried. Oh meant to say like all hearing aided amplified plugs they take abit of getting used to especially if your not used to anything like this. What he said. I saw an ad for them in one of my shooting magazines and thought they were well cheap for what they were, but after spending some time researching them, the verdict from owners is that they are not any good. delburt0
emtec noisebreakers+ 1 I have several pair through work there excellent, just realised my 1000 post what a way to spend it
Cosd
A few people here have tried these and found them not great. I think the amplification is a good idea but the universal fit means they will never cut out sound entering the ear completely like moulded plugs do. I bought the CENS Passive Moulds for £90 and am extremely pleased with them. http://www.censdigital.com/shop.html The protection from gun shot is excellent, they are extremely comfortable to the point you forget you are wearing them. The service from CENS is second to none in my books and the quality is fantastic.

Flynn
Does anyone know how much a set of Emtec Noisebreakers will actually cost me? There seems to be nothing on their website where I can find a price, which make me suspect I can't afford them. [edit]: Typical - very next thing I clock on has a price comparison. 75 quid a pair apparently, which is eminently affordable to protect my hearing. delburt0
I would get intouch , when they service my workplace they take orders before , to how many needs to attend the clinic and needs new plugs as it takes around 15 mins for the impressions , I suppose the expense would be actually meeting there ear mr to take the impressions, many moons ago around 12 yrs when we first started using them we got told £90.00 a pair but I'm not sure wheather this was slightly ballooned by the h&s manager to ensure we all felt sorry for him and looked after Them Edited June 6, 2013 by delburt0

markm
I have a pair of emtec's. over 10 years old and as good as the day I bought them. Do the job brilliantly. The CENS seem very similar, I would however buy another set of emtec's if ever needed.
Flynn
I dropped Emtec an email today. They replied within 5 minutes and I have an appointment for a mould to be taken of my lugs on Tuesday. To be frank, I have one pair of ears and I'm quite attached to them - if they clock in at less than 150 I'll be delighted. 3 hours salary for a lifetime of being able to hear our lass whinge, whine, yapp, twist, bitch, moan and gripe... Hmmm - maybe not such a great deal in retrospect... I shall report back with what happens and what it costs, along with how much difference it really makes. I'm a new shotgun owner, my hearing is "normal for a 'typical' 40 year-old who rides motorcycles", I'm told (my brother is an ENT surgeon, hearing test 14 months ago and I'm assuming minimal loss since then) so I'm reasonably comfortable that I'll be able to hear the reduction in dB, providing it's measurable by the human ear. Steveco36
Don't waste ya money on those first ones you saw,I had a pair and they are rubbish, better off with a pair of sonic's, cheaper and better! Just got myself a pair of Emtec Noisebreakers after reading numerous great reports about them and can definitely add they are superb, had the moulds done and they were he the following week! The total cost was £120 that included the express delivery this was only 2 months ago. Edited June 7, 2013 by Steveco36
