Evening all. Got some money save up and I am going to invest in some night vision.

A good friend of mine has a PVS-14 which I quite like. But a bit to much money for me at 2500 quid. But I have looked through a plusar but it wasnt for very long.

Just going by experience etc was after some thought and views on the pulsar night vision compared to the archer.

Thanks very much.

PS if i was to get the pulsar I would probably get the dr bob doubler or a sony 1.7 lens

Archer all the way. I've compared my archer next to the pulsar 550 with all the gadgets bolted on and it doesn't come close to the archer.

You also have to dedicate a rifle to the pulsar where as the archer can be swapped from each of your rifles in minutes

i have tried all 3 and in one sentence each here are my verdicts

archer- by far the clearest best quality but too expensive and breaks at day time

n750- very clear. good for money. with a dr bob doubler on and a good ir its more than ample. works in the light!

n550- not quite the quality of the n750 but cheaper. again dr bob and ir makes it much better and it works at day time.

the link below is to a post about a shooter who shot a bunny at about 430yds

although not many people seemed to believe the guy i can personally vouch for the authenticity of this claim first hand

the rabbit was shot with a longbow, spotted with an archer an could be seen with the n550. (PLEASE NOTE it could not be identified by the n550 but it could be seen. only once shot was the rabbit visible

Thanks for that. Its quite interesting. Yeah thats the only problem with the archer. And the only other downer is its fairly long on the rifle.

Just had a look at the Yukon and that sounds interesting mainly because of the price. However its not been out very long,

I was intending on putting my N750 combo onto my .204 this backend & buying a Photon to go onto my Hmr but a bit unsure ATM

There's still no date for the first delivery into the UK of the Photon - I had a look at it at the British Shooting Show back in early Feb & was well impressed !!

I can only answer about the archer in light and simply it's not an issue as you just use your day scope till last light and then put it on. They are very good and service backup is excellent, my issue with the others is low magnification and if they break outside warranty they are potentially junk

I have the archer, pop it on my belt in daylight and use scope normally, the archer is great for spotting where you don't to wave your rifle about which ends up tiring your arms, spot fox using as monocular , pop on back of scope and bang no more mr fox !

It on and off the scope in seconds

I thought the nv750 was £1300 so not a great saving if you buy a 2nd monocular capable of spottinf out past 200 yards, you also have more weight to lug in the field if you take 2 out

I have no doubt the n750 is good, but I think what you want it for, what your using it on (I'm happy spotting through the scope with my .22lr but not my .243 as it too heavy to be waving about ) and budget all have a say. If you don't have £1800 that's the archer out

you also have to put up with it as a day scope and really it depends what you shoot, if its foxes I like the ability to shoot to 300 yards in daylight then go to nv when its dark. As a day scope the N750 frankly is pants in comparison to most scopes. Rimfires maybe but then the low magnification isn't much of an issue.
