roughshooter
If your thinking of selling PM me I can't see me selling it to be honest as I have waited a long while to get an 8 bore. I will sort out some good non toxic loads for it and will be shooting geese on the foreshore this season! If it does come up for sale then I will let you know but that would happily mean that i have got a double tolley!!!

fenntay
I am starting to think I shouldn't have bothered with the 8!!! Gun cabinet is full and I could have bought another browning gold or an sp10....... easy reloads and cheaper to run with no worries of bore sizes and constrictions!!! And sp 10 will put more geese on the deck with less hassle
roughshooter
Think the answer is to buy the sp10 as well!!! sorted

Roughshooter an 8 bore is a gun for an enthusiast or perhaps a gentleman's gun its a bit like a chap who takes his vintage Bentley out once in a while so if you are not one those numbers boys then you go ahead & enjoy your 8g & they are so much nicer to shoot with than those cheap & tacky pogo sticks ! ps if you get a chance get the best you can afford , I know they are a lot of dosh but your money will be invested . scolopax
They are an excellent investment. They do not make them any more. A good double eight will only appreciate. That is what I keep telling myself, as I cannot hit **** all with mine lol
roughshooter
I agree with all the sentiment of a 8 bore but I find it extremely frustrating that I can load whatever I want for my 10 bores but am severley restricted when it comes to loading the 8 bore. I think if I were in Scotland and could happily use lead on inland geese then it would stay in my cabinet but as I am in Worcester and have to travel to foreshore then I have to consider the options..... if i sell it now then I can say that I had a 8 bore and if I keep it will I ever use it? I have 50 or so 10 bore ITM's loaded up and numerous 12g bismuth, itm, hevishot and steel. It is beginning to give me a blooming headache.................... I understand completely what you are saying roughshooter & once I have used up my supply of TM its going to be an expensive head ache ! but I am sure there will be some way to solve the none toxic problem as there are still many thousands of damascus barreled guns out there & there are a lot of us still using muzzle loaders . Work at it .

Doriboy
How have you got on with this? As I have the same gun but mine is stamped .827 I was given about 25 cartridges when I bought i, there are some steel with plastic wads, lead with plas wads, and some black powder with fibre wads. The guy I bought it from has been firing steel, lead, bismuth and tungsten through it. Should I not be firing the loads he gave me through it? shakin stevens
Not 100 % sure but some of them Spanish 8 bores where made as 8 bores and not bored out 10 bores.
Doriboy
Ok are all the Ralph grants Spanish guns?
shakin stevens
Ok are all the Ralph grants Spanish guns? They was imported and proofed in the UK, and the makers name put on them like Ralph Grant, they imported 4 bores as well, still a good gun. The greylag 8s are mostly bored out 10 bores again Spanish i think Elderkins in Spalding did these.

Think you are correct on the Greylag & chap near me has one , I had a shot with it a couple of seasons ago its ok but a little light , always saw them advertised in the shooting times in the 1970s & some where I have a big pile of 70s shooting times & if I get a mo I will see if I can did em out & see what they said about them & how much they were . Doriboy
Fired my 8 at the clay ground today with one of the nitro/plas wad/lead loads... Nearly ******g **** myself. Totally dusted the clay and certainly made a few people turn and look. Think the load may have been a little pokie. Was still great fun tho! My hands were shaking for about 5 mins after! I have some new loads coming from a trusted loader so will let you know how I get on as I don't really what to blow the gun apart (or my head off!) fandango
First thing to do this morning is take a cartridge to pieces and see what type of plas wad is in it,, if its a guilandi wad second thing to do is check to see if the barrels are bulged,,,, these wads do not fit the bored out 10s,,, try one down each barrel !!! They are to big,,,,,If the gun is still ok make sure that any shells loaded by others don't have these wads or you will invariably end up with a scrapped or unsafe gun................ Don't want to put a downer on your new 8 g but the bore on these are tighter than a true 8 g
