fat_jay
Dad is thinking of trading the berrata al391 in against either a benelli Vinci, or a browning maxus, anyone shot both and have an opinion?
B B
Maxus is the better gun the inertia system on the Benelli is theoreticaly reliable and when used in laboratory clean conditions is quite dependable but the usual Benelli achiles heal the bolt spring eventualy shows its head and anyway the vinchi although very comfortable is still a kicker fancy stock or not the maxus is a soft shooter only out paced by the versamax on low felt recoil. Get the maxus in my opinion.
Whitebridges
Why does father want to trade in FJ? Is his AL391 giving him problems? I use a AL391 Urika 2 Gold in a 20 bore and it has been the most faultless auto i've ever shot, wouldn't change it for anything. I've tried both the Vinci (horrible looking gun with a heavy trigger) and the Maxus which was better but not IMHO in the same league as the Beretta. I'm a Browning fan BTW. If Pa is looking for an inertia operated auto he could do a lot worse than something in the Benelli Raffaello range which comes in lots of different flavours. Good luck I hope he finds the right gun. roughshooter
Or get the Browning Gold Hunter which I think is better than the maxus Just my humble opinion Graham
fat_jay
He is looking for the softest on the shoulder he can get, as his arthritis is really playing him up now
RAMMER BURT
maxus is very soft to shoot, but so was the A400 witch also has kickoff as an option
Fib new
The maxus is the softer shooter, all inertia driven guns have more kick. Browning gold is even softer in the shoulder -probably because it's a bit heavier than a maxus.
mudpatten
From the list of options that you`re looking at, your dads best bet, if he wants the least felt recoil, is to stay with his Beretta 391 and look at an after market recoil pad. Saying that, has he though about moving to a 20 bore gas operated auto? That`s about the only way he`ll get any actual noticeable recoil and weight reduction without messing around with the light weight Benelli / harsh recoil or lighter recoiling / heavier weight old model Browning trade off. B B
Like i said the versamax is not on your list but it is without doubt the softest shooting (felt recoil) shotgun i have ever encountered and i just cant ever see how it is possible for it to jam i am at 1000 rounds in mine and counting never given a single problem. 17000 rounds and not cleaned on Remington media is claimed and i can believe it. Even if its not your brand choice look at it for how it works and i think you will buy it i did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJub_LUdxJk Edited June 28, 2013 by B B
