dorianbuilders
Any body got any expeience on how long I need to leave a kennel after using creocote before I can put the dog in? Cheers Adrian
DJL4
I've no experience with using creosote on dog runs/kennels as mine are tantalised but when used years ago on hop poles & fences, as long as it was properly dry you should be ok. One word of caution, if the weather is really hot creosote tends to start to weep back out of the wood and the dogs might start to lick it off with possibly nasty results. Same scenario if the dogs chew any parts. DaveL
stokie
Creosote is now a band substance and no longer available for sale surely that may tell you something

DJL4
I think I may have caused some confusion here between two different products - CREOSOTE & CREOCOTE. Pure CreoSote is as has been said by Stokie not supposed to be for sale now but CreoCote is one of the substitute products. Still not sure when it's safe to put dogs in the run tho ...... nothing on the label? DaveL
dorianbuilders
I'm going to leave it empty and open let the air in for a week or so to be on the safe side. Cheers Dave, how's the pup? Collecting mine tonight. Adrian

magman
Painted the fence with it last week spiders just ran across they wouldn't do that with creosote so that tells you something

Collecting mine tonight. Adrian Hi Adrian, the pups doing fine thx. Settled in well now and thinks my other dogs are all fair game for a rough and tumble! They put her in her place when they've had enough, nothing serious, but she still go's back for more. Certainly got some character. Good news to hear you finally found a pup, I know you've been looking for a fair while. Did you get what you were after? All the best with him/her. Dirty Harry
CreoSote is still legal and for sale. I got 50 litres a few weeks ago. I would not use either on a dog kennel....well not on the inside anyway.

happy.plinker
Creocote can smell very strong during hot weather but not as bad as CreoSote,I wouldnt like to be in the kennel although the dogs might be outside,Phone the company there'll be a number on the tin, they're usually very helpful. gazbev
I thought it was toxic,I know electricity poles that go in fields with animals have to have a cover over them to stop them poisoning them.
