jonny705
Hi , went here today , really empty regards to visitors, got there at 10.30 , left at about 2.30 pm. Went after Army M/C display team. Felt sorry for the stands as coundent have made much money at all , due to lack of punters. But really liked the various talks and displays going on , shot some black powder rounds. Honestly think after last years wind up , people were reluctant to go in case called off, as it was raining this morning . Checked their Twitter feed this morning before leaving and said nothing ? Think you could have took shotgun and have a go on sporting layout - but no information on how much , type of stands etc . Really think has right ingrediants to be a nice local show, think the organisers should do more to promote show via web etc - provide more information . But had a nice day out and didnt feel ripped off or anything, just never been to anyware with so few people. But at least you could see everything easy and , had oppurtunity to talk to some of the people, which you normally struggle to do! Regards Jonny. caeser
I went saturday, it was very quiet. Had a go at the sporting clay shoot. It was 40 bird with 5 stands.4pairs on each stand. Shot rubbish as I expected, 21 out of 40. I'm not into clays but I enjoyed it. Just getting the hang of shooting the clays again and it was over. There was some real bargains to be had. There was a turbo flapper for £35 which looked ok. 4 hide poles in a bag £25.etc.etc. Pinkella, not sure what stand you had so I don't know if I saw you or not. I did look at most stands, though. I thought it was worth £12. There was stuff going on somewhere all the time, so for the money you could be entertained all day.
pigeon controller
Just got back from the show, met the infamous Pinkella bought some gear from her stand and she gave me a PW discount. She is a very nice lady and we had a good chat. Walked the stands twice with lots of clothing etc bought some ferreting equipment from two stalls at a good price. it was a good lay out and watched Chris Green telling me what I should buy to shoot pigeons ( Not) also the ferret demonstration which would be useful for first timers or young ferreters. junctiontwo
Thought I'd give it a couple of hours before arriving to miss the queues but looking at the number of cars in the car park, I don't think this would have been a concern. Our first game fair was CLA and I think that has spoiled us as it was a great day out with almost too much to see. Arbury Hall came across as the poor relation with very little gun-related material other than clothing. It was however an enjoyable couple of hours despite the pint costing £4! Pinkella I did look out for you to come & say hi but evidently didn't look hard enough! Hope it was a worthwhile trip for you..... I don't think a return visit is on the cards for next year Edited August 18, 2013 by junctiontwo
Pinkella
Hi Crowman lovely to see you again. Pigeon controller thank you so much for your purchase and lovely to meet you and I really enjoyed our chat. Caeser how you can miss me I don't know! lol I was the only person there selling traps with pig tails! I had a fantastic show, Sunday was absolutely fantastic, I didn't sit down until 3.30pm and that was for about 2 minutes! Next year they must do more promoting earlier. I will definitely go again next year.
caeser
There you go Pinkella, I didn't know you were selling traps. I did see the trap selling stand, not far from where I parked my car, but unfortunately I don't use traps so it was one of the very few stands that I didn't have a nosey at. **** law eh. Anyway I enjoyed the show, even though it wasn't a big event. Although as someone has already said, there was a lack of gun dealers there. oscarsdad
I popped up yesterday. Met Pinkella...didn't really do a lot else to be honest. Walked around twice, chatted to some Ghurkas but there was very little available to do with shooting / fishing. Plenty of garden furniture and dog beds for sale and clothing or airsoft guns but that was about it. I don't think I will bother with the show again. manc-munsters
Highlight for me was watching the display by "ultimate countryman" in the small display ring. His stories of being taught all about gun safety by his dad at just 11 years old were inspirational. . . . . . . . right up to the point when he showed all and sundry how to break/close a side by side safely, while totally ignoring the fact he had two blanks loaded and was pointing the muzzles at a rather large gentleman on the edge of the ring! May be the "ultimate countryman" presumes blanks are perfectly safe to be fired in to someone's face from 30ft? May be the large gentleman was the "ultimate bulletproof friend"? :-) Glad I will never shoot anywhere near this guy ! oscarsdad
Oh and forgot, 2 very very large lesbians threatened to beat me up when I was there which was rather amusing! They had (presumably as a fashion accessory) a rather large muscular staffy ( complete with studded collar) which snarled at my cocker when we walked past...I pulled him away and thought nothing of it as he is a proper softy but they must have seen the look of disgust I did not hide very well when I looked at the other end of the staffy's lead...it was not a nice sight and I probably did a double take to try to ascertain what it was lol! Well Dave, or whatever "her" name was was not impressed and proceeded to turn the air blue with "her" language then her "partner" (I do not even want to think about that because the mental image will make me feel ill) waddled up in "her" dungarees and joined in... I didn't say a word and just walked off ( - I was obviously only concerned for my cocker's welfare and not the 40stone of lesbian who would most probably have done me some damage lol!). Not what you expect at a game fair but some entertainment at least! Edited August 19, 2013 by oscarsdad
