Cosd
what woul you class as long cos? I only have ones I bought years ago and never thought to ask how long they were!! Mine have a 6" rod so only really good for drill and very low crop. On Sunday I noticed someone using some which stood above the crop, maybe 500mm+
aga man
i use these, they are good quality and the leg from bottom of cradle is 14 inches which suits most situations, rape long stubble etc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Dead-Bird-Pigeon-Cradles-Cheapest-Around-/180876444508?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2a1d13835c

superspark
I have the same ones, very good cradles and well worth the money. I also use dead crows as well as pigeons on them.
activeviii
use your short cradles. bamboo canes from garden centre, their hollow and cheap and the same colour as the drying crop. Just to add, i dont like the long neck cradles, i cut all mine down short so not so much neck is on show. long stretched necks are a sign of panicking birds in my book. its ok have the odd one but not every single one in your pattern. Jame
I've never believed in stuff like that. This would be the posture they make when first landing or when they feel unsafe, they stay extra alert with necks streching until they feel safe, only then do they settle to eat/rest. I also cut them down to give a more relaxed look Edited July 28, 2013 by Jame

We always had birds decoying fine. We could also think that a magnet looks like 2 pigeons trying to flee from the field as quickly as possible, but i use a magnet to attract pigeons.
