Footu
I asked when I got mine and most on the line say your dog goes deaf anyway as it ages. I decided that shooting next to a dog with sensitive hearing would not be ok for me but rough shooting not so bad as less shots and dog further out or beating ok as further out again. Personal choice but if you want ear protectors your dog must be affected as well.
alexl
I wondered this, looking on google a while ago I did see that a company does manufacture ear defenders for dogs. I think it my have been America, where else!

welsh1
If you put defenders on a dog how is he going to hear your commands in the field? And the thought of my dog with defenders strapped around his head as he crashes through undergrowth and the chances of them snagging on branches makes me shudder. al4x
There is an element that it is an issue but also dogs have far shorter lives so the effect can vary, some breeds also have ears that flap down that offer protection. It's one thing in the field but where I clay shoot an increasing number of people bring their dogs to stand on peg which I just don't get. welsh1
I treat dog as if its another person never shoot over him always sits behind me in hide .. Mine sits behind me in the hide, he naturally adopted that position the first time we ever went in a hide.
