neil3728
I've just picked up a new permission that is full of crows, the farmer owns the wood where they are nesting and is keen on my to get it there and shoot them asap. Is there any thing I should know about crows before I start, or is it just a case of been quite and still. The permission is only half a mile from my house, doan a quite country road, I was planning to walk as its's a waste to drive. I believe I am okay aslong as the shotgun is in a slip, is this correct? neil3728
I've shot pigeon coming into nest at the back end of the year, is there any problems trying it with crows any time now.
BRNDL
Take plenty of cartridges and give them hell
arjimlad
Face veil is certainly advisable. You could try the bunny with guts out lure technique, with a decoy crow nearby.. Walking down public road with your gun in a slip is quite legal, but you should use your judgment on whether it is sensible or not. A break-down case in a backpack might be less obvious. eccles
If they are in a wood with lots of nests they must be rooks, carrions nest on their own. Around here the carrions have just starting to flock to their roosting woods. I don't bother with these sites till the leaves are of the trees and then hit them on a good windy night. Decoying them is your best bet bud at this time of year at first light. atb Terry

Paul T
I find crows are more wary than pigeons and know exactly how close they can come - usually 50-60yds if they can see you! Keep well hidden and duck out to shoot at the very last second. Also, they are harder feathered than pigeons so use a good hard-hitting cartridge with a decent shot size - at least no6, though I find 5s are better. No problems walking with the gun in a slip at all matey - especially down a quiet country road.
