lou13
Not long to go now before the season begins and i'm on the search for some suitable cartridges. I will be shooting both ducks and geese with a 20 bore beretta silver pigeon. Obviously it needs to be a non toxic load but i cant find any so I was wondering if anyone else knows of some suitable cartridges that you've tried before. Thanks, lou13

ayano3
I don't wish to start a war here but what sort of 'wildfowling' are you doing and as never owning a 20 bore myself I will ask you all the question is a 20 suitable for the job. I ask because we all debate if the 3 1/2 12 has any benefit over a 3", they we go into the 8 versus the 10 ? BBB or BB and so on. There is also the decoying or flighting debate....like I said I don't want a argument on the subject but I am interested in the comparison between 20 and other wildfowling guns. I am sure there is a suitable load somewhere out there for what you want.
6.5x55SE
Remmington 3" 1oz Steel Kent 3" 1-1/8oz Tungsten used both to VERY good effect on Foreshore and Inland Geese But my mate loads me 1oz Heavy Shot and 15/16oz Steel as witnessed by some members off here they do the job if you do yours and get up front of your Quarry. I use 1/2 and. 3/4 chokes and 1-2 and 3 shot.
fireboy
hello all i had my shoulder operated on at the beginning of last years season so could not use my 12 bore as it was to heavy so i used my 20 bore last year with great results i was using 28grm 5 bismouth had plenty of mallard and wigoen out to 35 to 40 yards and shot some great teal with it to. would not wont to use it for geese tho as you wouldn't get many 1 or bb for 28 grm carts .20 bores are just as good as a 12 you just have to be bang on with your shot but i use my 20 for every other type of shooting clays pigeon pheasant that i do all year round so its like second nature shooting with it. Doriboy
I shoot a 3" 12 and have just bought an 8 bore. I regularly shoot with a friend who uses a 20. As long as you know your limits it will kill no problem. He uses Gamebore super steel 2 3/4" for ducks and Remington nitro steel 3" no 2s for geese. Also the chairman of fenland shoots a 20 and does very well too
ayano3
A twenty is something I have thought about using for pigeon shooting. My aya no4 only weighs 6lb ish so the weight would be fine. Would like to try one sometime.
scarter
I've shot ducks and geese with a 20 bore if your on em your hill em! Onli thing is u can't get massively heavy loads but if you hit a goose up the front end with just 24 or 28 g shells u will bring them down

On the Chris Green wildfowling dvds, they kill a fair few close - medium range Canadas using no.5 bismuth.
