New in Northants

Hi All,

I'm new to PW, if not entirely new to pigeon shooting... Just getting started again after a 7 year sabbatical, and a move to the Northampton area from Kent.... So many more pigeons around here than back home! ... "Which is nice".

Just doing the rounds of trying to get some perms at the moment. A predictably slow burn, but have two in the bag so far, and both no more than a mile from my house. Only trouble is neither want's me till the rape in November. VERY frustrating watching the combines this week, but hey... Rome wasn't built in a day. I have years of good sport ahead of me if I do it right, and look after the perms I do get.

On another note, I treated myself to coaching session at Northampton Shooting Ground (Sywell Range) the other day - 50 birds, tailored for hide shooting, and an hour of Geoff's time... Money extremely well spent! He's a superb teacher and immediately pointed out some bad habits I have with stance, and gun mounting. Got me nicely back on the straight and narrow by the end of it.... A good confidence booster after my long lay off. (I must hasten to point out that I was just busy OK ...Not in jail !!)

Am thinking of giving NPPC a go whilst I'm still working up my own perms... ...Anyone got any experience of their locations in Northants or S. Leics?.... Any good?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some good tips, yarns, and pigeon based banter on these boards.....

All the best,

Longchalk.
