Kelbrook Shooting School-New In area

Hello.

I am new in this area (North West, Bury/Manchester/Rawtenstall) and I have just re-started my shooting again after about 15 years off. (4 kids got in the way!!) and I recently bought into a syndicate in North Cheshire for shooting pigeons which is absolutely great and run by a really decent bloke.

After my first day out, and having seen a lot of pigeons happily winging their way off into the distance, whilst I looked on with a gently smoking gun, I decided a lesson was in order, because when I was younger I am sure I was a 'dead eyed ****', and clearly all my ability had disappeared.

I did a bit of research and found the Kelbrook shooting school, and after a quick conversation with a very courteous lady I booked a lesson and had it yesterday. The chap who did the lesson was extremely knowledgeable, and was quickly able to identify where my problems lay and put in place solutions for me. Some of what he did was like 'witchcraft' he was excellent- my apologies but I have forgotten his name!

Anyway, the upshot (excuse the pun) is that I would like to practice but being new to the area, I don't have anyone to go with! (I know this is very sad, and I expect you have your tissues out by now) The layout at Kelbrook is second to none, in fact I have seldom seen better. The traps can be operated with a time delay so they can be used by individuals, but I would prefer it if someone was around to laugh at me.............

Seriously, if you are a mid week shooter and would like to share a round at Kelbrook, I would be pleased to hear from you.

Many thanks.

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Kelbrook is one of our favourite grounds. We had a few lessons with Geoff before we got our guns and this really helped us. Everyone up there are so friendly and we like the layout,we try to go once a month but if we lived nearer we would become members.

Sadly we can only shoot on a weekend as we are both working full time.

Another good ground 15mins from kelbrook is coniston shooting ground.

Hi gents.

I also love Kelbrook and really think I would benefit from a lesson! Can you recommend anyone/any of you guys to give me an hour or so tuition? Paid at the going rate of course. :)

Reggigun was by far the best shot...I'm sure he's done loads of clay shooting in a former life...we just went and had a good laugh nothing seriarse if you fancy a trip before we go on the grouse drop me a message..

The weather and company was second to none, constant laughing and banter..

Hope to arrange another trip out there again with the lads..

Yea,

Thanks all good laugh! Will blow the dust of the auto and have a go with that next time, get my lad to bring his super nova as well. Be good to sort something with rifles somewhere.

Regards,

Thanks all for a great day. Some cracking shots from Reggiegun. Just put a new sign post on one of the traps "DEEP MUD, DO NOT STEP". Lol.

Obviously this will not mean much to those of you who were not there.....

Somehow I managed to find the 2 foot square piece of swamp at Kelbrook and fall in it up to my knees. To be fair to the other guns thay didn't start laughing until I was out of ear-shot ( I had a change of foot wear) but I am very happy that I was able to provide a little cabaret.

A really enjoyable couple of hours with three good guys, thanks to you all.

Off to scrape the mud of my best brogues now and fix the washing machine which is clogged up with Kelbrook swamp.

Who is the fat bloke in the last picture? It cannot be me, I am much slimmer than that surely? :hmm:

I would reccomend the guy at kelbrook. Some witch craft involved in his methods but very good indeed well worth every penny. I think it was about 63 quid? just give them a call, really helpful decent people.
