evo
hi all, ive just acquired the above because I,m sick and tired trying to video my night shooting with a daytime camera and it just wont focus properly, ok now for the problem, The wires that this unit comes with are very flimsy to say the least, what I have done is tried to shorten the yellow phono which is for the video and when I stripped the wires back there was a blue wire and an earth sheath inside, so I have re connected the blue wire to the centre phono and the sheath to the outer connection, just the same as it was on the original phono, can I get a picture ,,, NO ,it keeps coming up with nothing, and when I pull the jack out of the unit , no signal comes up on the screen, all I have done is make the lead shorter then connect it up the same as it was and I just cant get a bloody picture, its cracking me up, any ideas anyone any help appreciated cheers Bob
Lord Geordie
I assume it is a standard composite cable? If so, check out tinternet for a shorter cable!

boo
Are you using the angel eye as a separate,viewing/recording device along side the screen,if so are you using one of the av feeds off the screen?Had a similar problem with a Yukon mpr, cure was to take the av feed off the actual camera/av out,not off the screen itself, just made a simple T-junction with a 3-4 inch feed for the mpr, which sits nicely in its own pouch on the stock. I have wired it to a connector from the camera so it is directly fed via the camera, it worked ok until I shortened the lead and I have shortened the lead and wired it back up to a different connector instead of the phono and it just wont work, I have put the camera that came with it back in and it works ok so something stupid is wrong, I,ll have another play in the morning to see if I can sort it because I,m out on the rabbits mon tue and wed night so would be nice to video it to show how my NV kits perform thanks for the replies lads and kiffy pm sent bud cheers Evo
boo
Out of curiosity check if its pal or ntsc format, might not be picking the signal up,worth a look if there ccompatable,as most reversing screens swop between each, there was an instance a while ago that some board cameras from the states were ntsc format and some people having difficulties with there screens not working. 12boreblue
I presume you soldered the conections, if so double check those joints if dark grey and not shiny, solder is probably cracked nd could cause loss of signal.
kiffy
problem you get these days with soldering is the lead free solders are awfull to use compared to the older lead solders when hand soldering, they dont flow right and can quite often give dry joints. evo, got your lead sone will post today or tomorrow

Dave-G
I've messed up trying to make a 500mm direct cable from the 3 pole 3.5mm photon video out port to my 4 pole 2.5mm DVR av-in socket. The 4 pole plug must be made up by kids with super small hands and special midget soldering irons - and with damn good eyes too. I've asked the ebay vendor if he can solder me two wires on the tiny central two solder nipples - he seems to be a radio shack kind of place. kiffy
damn connectors but these are nasty... over the years ive soldered thousands of 3.5mm, dc and phono connectors but these ones are small... and my only surface mount solder tip has a damn hole in it... i managed to get them done some shape but if your still having trouble dave let me know.. i may spend most of my time in the office now but i can still solder (of a fashion)

evo
crickey they are small dave ha ha , no wonder they use kids to do the soldering it really is a delicate operation, just for those that have the Angel Eyes DVR, please note !!!!!!!!!! don't go buying a spare dvr battery for the Angel Eyes from the manufacturer because the battery from the old nokia 3310 phone is exactly the same and only £2.50 (about) on the flea bay, also if you have any sense throw the 240v battery charger in the bin as it is cheaply made and is a fire hazard, how they let them send these into the country is beyond me, just use the usb charger hope this helps for those that have them as when using mine I probably get 1 hour of continuous recording so having spare batteries is a must cheers Bob
