After last weeks successful double ambush.Mark contacted the landowner to find out that the Dog

biscuits he was putting out where still being taken..we had heard a 3rd Fox voice it's displeasure

at us shooting 1 of it's kin,so confidence was high. :shoot:

By 7pm we were set up again, this time with half a Hare on the fence as an extra tempter and a

mouse squeak quietly playing on the Fox-pro.Lot of Magpie calling around us raised the confidence

but it soon got dark and Mafk settled down to sleep...again. :whistling:

8-10 saw an eye appear behind the double fence to the right,Archer attached and confirmation that indeed,a fox was edging slowly towards the Hare some 100yds from us.It passed the bait and was now behind the single fence eventually jumping between the mesh and wire above it into the paddock.

As i settled the x onto it,typically it turned to face away from me,picked up what i assume was

a biscuit, promptly jump the fence and dissapear through the run into the field behind! :/

What just happened we thought..never mind, sure it will be back and 5mins later it was,and from

the same place following the same route.

This time i thought once your into the paddock i'm going to shout HOY! and stop you...didn't get

the chance ,as soon as it reached the run it just wandered through and away.

Various calls were tried but to no avail, silence was tried but also nothing...emergency meeting

was called and Fox vocals were to be tried.

1st off was cubs playing...nothing so went for a Vixen call...result, a Magpie to our right

Chattering furiously then eyes from the left, still behind the fence but looking very interested..

until it reached the run and dissapeared.ARGGHHH, :bye2: but i kept composed and suddenly we had a Fox looking at us from 40yds down the left side fence in line with the caller.NV attached again but no

Fox.Then it appeared behind the double fence again..this time i was determined and when the Fox was

facing us behind the single fence,i head shot it then walked down to find nothing..what the?? :o

Checked the fenceline to find her dead some 10yds left of the post i though she was. :yahoo:

As i packed the motor,Mark explained all to the landowner and returned with a bottle each of

homemade Damson Vodka.

Here she is and the smile is just for you Magman.

Next stop was a Pheasant shoot a few miles away but this Fox was coming down the field as we were

heading to set-up.A huge Dog Fox by the look of him who didn't hang about.

We tried a call anyway but nothing showed so we packed up and headed for home.

But...after seeing 2 Foxes cross the road we decided to head for another of Mark's farms that has

been good to us this year.

There is a 3 ft gap in a hedge that Mark has said he regularly sees Fox on the bank behind.Indeed

we saw 1 here a while back which didn't present a shot,so as we passed i slowed the motor down and

sure enough,2 bright eyes shone back at us. :w00t:

Left the engine running and rolled the motor back, quicly got the rifle loaded and onto the fencepost

in the gap.Lamp on to see a Fox standing some 110yds away side on..very co-operative and duly

despatched.Bullet entered left side of the ribs but exited its back.

Both of them and our reward, which by the way was a very tasty welcome nightcap.
