indio
Sound? Honestly? Hiya Motty I know you're an experienced shooter so obviously you do things stealthily and you would know that if you're making a din when in your hide it's enough to spook the birds BUT this is a young fella setting out so probably not a good idea to get into bad habits as he may go on to do other forms of shooting where silence is important (maybe deer or suchlike) kind regards. While it may be important to keep fairly still in a hide, it isn't important to stay quiet. One would have to make a considerable amount of noise to scare a pigeon. Dazza9t9
Perhaps I could employ you to give PC, Simon6ppc, Fenboy, Agaman, Motty, Yickdaz, Dead Eye Alan, Cocknee and myself, plus all of the other regular decoyers on this forum, some guidance if you have...'learnt everything'. I didn't mean I have learnt everything, major grammatical error. What I meant to say was I have learnt everything I know from reading the forum and the help/advice I have been given. I am a very long way off from know a small bit let alone "everything" I do Appologies if taken the wrong way
The Ghost
JDog was having a laugh Dazza, I saw it as that as most did All he did was list some top shots and said "we know nothing about shooting". The important thing is you are enjoying shooting
Dazza9t9
Yeah I got there in the end. Once I had read the remainder of the thread. As for enjoying shooting, can't get enough of it. At 32 years of age I keep asking my self, why didn't I take the sport up sooner.
The Ghost
Try and have a go at some clays FB it is good way of telling if you have picked up a few bad habits or are just **** like the rest of us. You could get six top shooters on here in a field and everyone would do it differently, from the time they start, guns & ammo used, decoy set-up & type, Magnet or two or none...the list goes on. As long as you know why you are doing it...just carry on remembering that your gun and fit are important.

aga man
to add to the post i can only echo some of the other comments. like all things in life there is no substitute for real life experience. you can leave college as a fully qualified electriction, plumber etc, the only thing that will make you good and efficient at your trade is experience. get out there as often as you can. don't lose the faith we all have days when we plan every thing and shoot only half a dozen. keep keen and absorb info as you go. nice to be labelled amongst some of the best on here, cheers for that JDog

Danoi99
Been doing this pigeon shooting for a little while now. Went out today and shot a huge bag........................3 !! I don't care though because I only fired 5 Carts, and I pulled off my longest shot ever. I won't try and boast about the distance, but it took me ages to walk out and get the blighter !! It took one shot.........and it nose dived, motionless all the way down........big thump with a load of feathers !!!! High up & far out !!! I came back over the moon...............it's my best shot ever !!! Pigeon shooting is amazing !!! I bet very few people can say they have mastered it......................most can say they enjoy it !!!! My lower intestine is busy converting that pigeon into bio-mass as I type......................a happy thought for you all !!
