I just bought a thumbhole for my Howa and it come to £136 including import taxes. I'm not sure if they make them for the 595 though but it's worth a look. Subaru_sti5
I can only give a personal opinion on why to buy a howa... It's a really nice gun great action, smooth bolt, nice trigger and even the standard hogue stock feels really good. Only shot it in .308 and it groups really well can't comment on .22-250 but I'm sure it would be much of the same but easier to control. shotgun sam
I have a Tikka T3 in 223 shoots like a dream and a Howa 1500 in 308 shoots well but not as good as the Tikka. My brother in law has a Howa 1500 in 223 shoots not to bad but is very ammo fussy He has had a couple of live rounds stuck in the chamber. I I had to get rid of either my 223 or 308 then there is only one winner that is the Tikka.

r1steele
Boyd's don't do stocks for the tikka unless I can't find it Martyn Not everything is on their website so you may need to ring them. As I said earlier, they may not do them for the 595. If you can, try and have a shot with the Howa as it is a good rifle at a good price. I've had one for a while now and really like it. Paul T
I'm looking round for a .243 at the moment and have looked at both Howa and Tikka. Put it this way: If I had a Tikka, no way would I swap it for a Howa. The Howa is nice, but the Tikka just feels more solid.
bullet boy
I personally prefer the Tikka over the Howa. When I was looking for a CF rifle I looked at both the Tikka and the Howa but I chose the Tikka mainly for smoother cycling of the bolt. wickedwickedmotox
I had a howa from new and replaced it with an m595, the howa was a cracking gun but i did replace the trigger bed the stock etc, chopped it in against an old tikka m595 and its a much better rifle. I used to homeload my howa and got really anal but could get them to clover leaf tried allsorts it was almost there mind and would comfortably shoot out to 350 yard at metal! Worked up loads on the tikka, adjusted trigger to my liking floated the stock had the crown re cut (prefrence) and worked up a load from manual and straight away clover leafing, went up through my loads and as expected the mid range loads opened up slightly then as it got hotter closed up, really chuffed with the tikka, alraedy have an m595 semi custom in 7mmo8 and its awesome! spend a little cash make it look flash and have fun

njc110381
I can only give a personal opinion on why to buy a howa... It's a really nice gun great action, smooth bolt, nice trigger You've never used a Tikka 595 have you? There's no way in the world I would get rid of what you have and replace it with a Howa. The Tikka is superior in every way. Spend a bit making it look good rather than selling up and buying a much lower grade rifle. I'm not knocking the Howa but the%
martyn2233
10-15 year old 22-250, sounds dicey. Inspect the bore very carefully. If thr bluing is worn it has been well used if not shot much but on the pther hand guns left in cabinets for a long time not stored correctly will have corroded bores. 22-250 and 243 are the ones i ALWAYS check the barrels on thoroughly!do you have a gun shop ?
